This is just my opinion, before Ledley was a celt he was one of those midfielders who would be bursting into the box on the end of crosses or waitng for a break of the ball.
For Cardiff he could score 15 goals a season easily. I feel tgat when Celtic buy attack minded Central Midfielders they always end up detained and are stopped from doing the things they did best at former clubs.
E.g Scott Brown doesnt get in the box anywere near the amount he was when at hibs.

I understand the link, but still I think if he was to be given a little more freedom there would be benefits.

Ledley still get's in the box now when he is played in CM. -
Ledley averaged 5 goals a season at Cardiff, and his peak season saw him score 11 in all competitions.
For Celtic, he averages 7.5 goals per season, and got 9 last year (already has 1 this year.)
Overall, averages 1 goal every 5 games for Celtic, but averaged 1 goal every 8.5 games in his career prior to his arrival at the Club.
I do feel he can score even more, but the comparison of his time here compared to time at Cardiff would appear to be pish I am afraid. -
All the other seasons he only scored 3 or 4 or 5 goals max. -

He is the unsung hero of our team goes about his business in an unfussy manner and generally never loses the ball and wins a helluva alot of tackles, as well as chipping in with the odd goal.
In my opinion our most all round midfielder (not neccessarilly our best) but our most all round midfield player -
Ledley is being utilised perfectly by Celtic, even when he has to chip in at left back that is where we require him and he goes about his business in a consistent and unfussy manner.
In the games against the manks and in Europe his performances levels don't drop a bit, in fact there's an argument they get better. Mark of a class act. -
Think you might be right, look at his performance away to Helsinki . Dont think he passed the half way line for us .

He is right up there as one of our best players. A simple, tidy, effective midfielder who rarely wastes the ball. If he chips in with 10 goals a season (easily achieved imo) to go along with the rest of his play then I will be very happy.
Hopefully now that we play 3 CMs a lot more he will have licence to make those trademark late runs into the box. -

Hahaha, yeah - apart from those 2 rather significant moments!

Don't think I have a single criticism of Ledley. He's just such a good professional, who now seems to have a genuine affection for Celtic.
He does have a better scoring record up here and it could be better but imo that is through no fault of his own. I don't know how many times Joe Ledley has made the runs, looked for the pass, and only to be overlooked. Step ahead of most players.
I would love to have him here for years. -
