Joe averages about two "bad" games a year. Trust the usual suspects on this forum to pick up on it though when he does perform below par and make it out to seem something much bigger than it actually is.

I like Joe Ledley. Pretty consistant and pops up with vital goals in some big games.

However, I do get the feeling he should be doing more. I think he should dictate and dominate every game he plays. It seems to me as if he is satisfied with being consistantly good, when if he applied himself in the right manner (and took more responsibility going forward) he could be consistantly brilliant.

He is by far our least forward passing midfielder.

As I've said before, with the choice of MF players we have, he's a player we could do without.

I'm not a fan of Ledley. I find his play boring but he is our most consitent performer and puts a lot of effort in for the most part. He does lack a creative and passing edge than some of our other players but at least we can rely on his consistency and decent overall game. He is an all rounded player than can slot into different piostion when required.

No coincidence that when ledley has a "quiet game" then celtic as a team don't seem to function properly!! Great player who for whatever reason is the fall guy when celtic don't play well by a lot of supporters who appear desperate to jump all over him when he has a quiet game by his high standards.

He didn't have his best game yesterday but is was only a week and a half ago he was rightly praised for getting a goal and an assist at Helsinki. Yesterday, Kayal seemed to be the one pushing forward more with Ledley sitting. He over hit a through ball to Kayal in the first half but there were probably other players who gave the ball away more than him.

People who have nothing positive to say will happily gloss over the first sentence in your post though, and instead choose to focus on the negatives. Considering we got him for absolutely nothing, Joe Ledley has undoubtedly been one of Lennon's best acquisitions.

Off the top of my head, I can think of two goals that he's scored against the old Rangers (one of which completed the 15 point turnaround last season and brought us to the top of the table again and the other in a League Cup final), a goal on the final day against Kilmarnock the day we won the title, and a goal and assist last week against HJK Helsinki, which put us into the final qualifying round against Helsingborgs. That's just the more prominent examples I can think of.

Ledley I feel Is guy that generally goes unnoticed in my opinion but does a lot of good work and with his ability to play In numerous positions and still performing well shows just how valuable an asset he has become.

Some of the assessments of his performance yesterday are in my opinion lacking in substance as I don't think he was half as bad as I have heard people make out

I personally believe that wanyama kayal and ki are all naturally more talented and when performing at the top of there game are better players but ledleys consistancy is unmatched
Which therefore Makes him a must in the squad even if he doesnt start but I can understand why for some he is deemed first on the team sheet and for others would rather see others in the first team before him on a regular basis

He has chipped in with a few goals like against Hearts away and St Mirren at home. I am sure he has also scored the winning goals vs ICT twice as well. I remember him scoring the only goal against ICT at home and twice away against them.

Here's the thing, Joe is a work horse, breaks up the oppositions attacks, plays nice neat short passes and pops up with an important goal or two. I personally think we don't see the best of him in the middle.

Joe doesn't have much pace, but he can deliver a sweet ball.
Kayal & Wanyama would be on my team sheet before Joe, who i think are better players. Very likeable guy & a good honest player, who I still think is an invaluable member of our squad.

    I agree with you.

Although I think Ledley can do more in matches, he has an uncanny knack of scoring in big games. In addition to your examples I think his goal in Rennes away last season was another one, and on a big European stage.

Ledley always has a quiet game lol. Take Brown out the midfield and we struggle. Fact.

So the Scott Brown thread comes up but not this one!

Joe couldn't control the ball tonight!

Seriously, though, Ledley, Brown and Kayal have never played in the 'perfect formation'I've been bumming about for a few seasons. Give them all a chance to perfect it and we could be on to something. Need two new certre backs however and a RB.
