I've been a fan of this club for over 40 years, not a proper fan who goes to watch them home and away every week. Because of family commitments, work, no work, finacial difficulties, cost of travelling to Glasgow or abroad, and all the other problems that everyone has, i have never been able to see Celtic as much as i wanted. But Celtic was always in my blood. I, like you, would always do anything to see the Bhoys, usually on tv, but occasionally in Paradise. I would arrange holidays around Celtic games, work extra hours on other days so i could get Celtic match days off, tell the Mrs that the shopping in Glasgow is * legendary just to get a weekend away there (coincidentally there was a game on that weekend), turn up late for weddings, christenings etc coz there was a game on. Wear an earpiece on my daughters wedding so i could listen to the match. In the old days when there wasnt so much on tv i'd drive round my estate in the car trying to get a signal for radio Scotland, finding that i got a better signal when i turned left but was * if there was a bridge. Picking up a Spanish radio station that had the Real v Celtic game on and guessing the score by the sound of the crowd coz i hadnt a clue what the commentater was saying. Reading everything and watching everything that had anything to do with my beloved Celtic. The excitement i felt as a 50 year old getting to go to parkhead was like a child at christmas. But.....and here is the point of my thread......the team now....the club now.....and most importantly the board of this club now have ripped the heart out of me. This club over the years has made me deleriously happy, incredibly proud, unbelievably sad, excited, annoyed, angry, grumpy, happy and almost every emotion you could have. But not until recently have i become apathetic. Never before have i gone out on a saturday and thought, * it, i dont care if we won or not. I think its because we seem to have lost our soul. We dont have a great team, or great individual players at the moment. But we havent always had that. What we Did have was players who would run thru a brick wall for the club. We had a pride in the green and white hoops. We had players who knew what it meant to wear those jerseys. And i know times have changed and players are different now, but surely they must have some pride in their work. As for the board, they are as far removed from the fans as they could be. To them money is everything. Shareholders must be paid. They miss the rangers. The £ signs left when they did. And this short sighted board decided to downsize until this wee parochial feud could get started again instead of building and strengthening and following the real money which is the champions league. I used to meet people on holiday in Spain or wherever and when i told them i supported Celtic they'd say, oh yeah, Celtic, great team. Now they say, oh Celtic they're *. Little known scandanavian teams are humping us, seriously, embarrassing us. And all because our board wont show any ambition, waiting for a challenge from the great rangers team that are coming. When the fact is that Scottish football is *, We need to rise above that. Stop buying the best * of Scottish footall. Buy outside. Buy scandanavian if its better. Remember the very first Celtic side was bought from the best teams available, namely Hibs, *, they're still recovering.
Anyway, i hate to say it, but for the first time in my life, Celtic is not in my top list of priorities, and it breaks my heart. Anyone else feel this way???

I still go to the games home and away but I would be lying if I said it didnt feel like a chore these days. Im not anti Ronny either but he isnt a Celtic Manager by a long shot and many of that squad irny Celtic class either. Im not being unrealistic and holding the Lisbon Lions up as the bar for Celtic class im instead comparing them to Strachan or even Lennons teams.

The thread title pretty much sums up my feelings at the moment. I should be looking forward to a home game in Europe on Thursday but.....

It's definitely not just you mate - a lot of my mates went to seville, season tickets for years and "were" all huge celtic fans now couldn't really care much about it anymore.
I don't know if it's maybe because they are all growing up and have families etc now or even maybe because the huns are no longer in the league (as much as none of them will admit it) but out of about 20 guys only 4 still now have season tickets. Even more worrying is that a number of them now support other teams in England and don't even check the celtic scores.
Is this Ronny Deilas fault? Obviously not, however his poor European results over the last 2 years have played some part in it. The constant "downsizing" and selling of best players over the last 10 or so years has also played a huge part in it aswell.
For me i've found that i'm going to less games these days (last one was aberdeen at home and can't think what the next one will be) when used to go to about 20 a season (home & away + Europe). After we got pumped by Molde at home I was literally like "oh well" when usually i would be raging for days about it so i'm definitely feeling more apathetic towards celtic these days! -
Nothing new - you could sense the apathy begin to set in during Strachan's time at Celtic. It's been downward spiral, with a few peaks, since then and will continue to be so.

Heard the same * under Strachan and Lennon. Always just sounds like toys ejecting from prams because we're not the way people think we should be without any consideration for how we ended up here.
No competition in the league so Ill stop going to games and then I'll complain that we can't afford good players.
Next CL campaign and all the apathy disappears. Been that way for as long as Ive supported us for some fans. -
Dont worry OP Deila is just so * that it is sucking the life out of ya. Trap was our manager for 4 years and the last two were gut wrenching. MON has changed everything. Im certain that a change of manager will help.

The majority of the 90's was a disaster. If anytime was to apathetic towards Celtic it would have been then. Today's disappointments are a "pothole" in comparison.

Please break that opening post into paragraphs. It's such a chore to attempt to read.

Comparing it to the worst time in our history and saying its not as bad as that, is technically true it isnt on that level in terms of how * it is, is hardly a badge of honour is it? I had a peak at the sevco forum yesterday and they are loving it. Absolutely loving it that we have not sacked the lap dog yet. That tells it's own story.

Don't get me wrong it's pretty pish right now but I would never turn my back on Celtic. I still schedule my life around Celtic games and always will, no matter how * it ever gets.
