I also heard this today, that he was signing on loan till the end of the season - presumably with an option to buy.

I have heard this today also. I overheard a lad talking about it in the betting shop, saying he will be signing for the Bhoys in January on loan with a view to a permanent move.

It was also mentioned on an Everton forum 'GrandOldTeam' but the lad who posted it has said he can be recalled in that time. I'll probably know a bit more tomorrow at the game.

I was told he's been signed and sealed for over a month and now he's working his ticket through the media so to speak i.e. letting it be known he wants to come back up north etc...

Don't know if anyone posted this article but:

James McFadden concedes he would be prepared to return to Scotland, if he is unable to secure regular football at Everton.

The forward has started just three Premier League games this season and has been linked with a January switch to Birmingham City - managed by former Scotland coach Alex McLeish.
But reports have also claimed that Everton have accepted an offer from Celtic to take McFadden on loan for the second half of the season.
The former Motherwell ace remains keen to make an impact in the Premier League, but is willing to consider a move back to the SPL

and if we get faddy we will have two former well forwards lol

  14. Loan would be perfect, no need to spend £5million and gives us time to assess him.

Everton have rejected an approach from Celtic to sign Scotland striker James McFadden on loan in January.

The 24-year-old's future at Everton is uncertain, and he has admitted he would consider a return to Scotland.
Everton chief executive Keith Wyness told BBC Sport: "We have rejected Celtic's offer out of hand and we have left it at that. "We are not actively trying to sell him, but there has been a lot of interest, not just from Celtic

Sounds to me Everton want to sell him, apparently they want £3.5M for him
