you seriously saying he is only worth 1-1.5 million? You wouldnt get a groundsman for that in the EPL. He is an odd player but a brilliant one at times. Its not so different from having a Lubo or even a Naka in there.

That's exactly what I'm saying. His value has went up on the back of Scotland's Euro 2008 campaign, but his club form has been poor, if he's even been selected for Everton.

There are so many unanswered questions about him, he has never played consistently at the highest level, and has never experienced the pressure and expectation week in week out which comes with playing for Celtic.

sorry for cutting in mate but how about this,
all a manager can do is look for a certain type of player, with, what that manager likes to see in players,
now that player is gonna rise with the team or fall end of, they are all risk's.
if we went with your opinion we would not have signed larsson, as at the point of buying him 99% of fans only knew of him due to the world cup and not because of his scoring exploits,
we made henrik larsson the scorer he turned out to be,we gave him the platform and he commanded, as i said to ma da, larsson didnt put every shot in the net or made every single pass, but he was the complete footballer put into a team at the right time,
so , why should we expect other players to be perfect, and never miss goals, how many assist's did he have, tackles ,how long was he out injured.
if mcfadden comes to the tic we will have another highly skilled fan in the team again and that aint no bad thing, who ever comes we just need to give them a chance thats what we used to do very well.
thats what made us cellic fans . what do you think :celt_2: :celt_2:

He signed from well for 1.5 million i believe. He's hardly played, so we can't expect much improvement, or experience.
I'd like a player of his ilk, but for the money quoted? why. because he sits on an english bench.
A better option with the benefit of hindsight would have been to give Maloney the extra 2-3g's a week to get him to stay, as he is a better player.

who the * cares about the money quoted?

at the end of the day the question is, will he imprive the team?

IMO yes he will drastically add flair, assists and he will chip in with the odd goal. He is a big game player as he has proved on the international stage, hes a tim so he'll play for the jersey unlike your jarosiks etc. and hes got a bit of flair about him.

hes still reasonably young (24?) age we sold maloney at and he has got some experience playing for everton over the last few years.

if your complaining about the money, complain about the money we never spent on him getting him of off motherwell. When we offered them the equivelant of a night out in the pub for a gd young player

    rant over:31:

Everton forward James McFadden may hand in a transfer request to speed up a move to Glasgow giants Celtic. The Sunday Mail claims that the Scotland international is desperate to move to his boyhood heroes having had limited first team opportunities this season.
Celtic have already had a loan bid for McFadden rejected while the 24 year old didn't even make Everton's bench for the game with Arsenal on Saturday.

i dont think maloneys any better than faddy... there the same age too

I care about the money and so do the club and the shareholders, if we are paying an inflated price because he sits on an english bench rather than a french one then we should look to buy from france.
I agree with you on the motherwell thing though, at the 1 to 1.5 million range it would have been money well spent.
As for now, i would much rather have either riordan or maloney in my 11. One is already here, and the other would cost less to buy and pay.

Maloney wasn't getting a game in 2003, when faddy was last in the spl. so then i'd have to have said faddy was MUCH MUCH better

Faddy and Maloney sre similar players their is no doubt. They would also comand similar transfer fees. Faddy would be a better investment as he has the advantage of playing in the premiership for a longer period of time and for this reason he is at a more advanced time in his career a more complete player. Altough I wouldnt be to upset if we signed Maloney.

According to the stats site footymad.net maloney played 23 games in season 03-04.
    faddy played 3 games.

Season 02-03 Maloney played 30 games faddy played 35

Unless they have it wrong, they played roughly the same amount of games in that period. Maloney for Celtic and faddy for the great Well.

I have to agree with everything Ion has said. I don't think the boy would improve the squad at all. He's not a natural winger or a prolific striker. And whatever position you, *, might think he will play, he most certainly does not have flair. People talk about his goals for Scotland, but when it comes down to it, he doesn't score enough of the simple goals. His temperment can also be brought into question - we already have Brown and McDonald. He wont replace Hartley in the center, as we need a defensive mid player, and well, Brown cost too much and is better than Faddy to be dropped. And It's plain to see WGS wouldnt drop a striker for him to fit Faddy in. There you go.

And for the guy who started comparing Maloney and Faddy.... Maloney has more skill and seems to have now hit form for Villa. I personally would take him back, but it won't happen.

If we're gonna go for a goal scorer, I would bet it will be in the summer and it will be man to either challenge JVoH, or back up for him, as that ex Hibees man is guff.

One last thing, JJ's change in attitude and form suggests to me that we dont need someone else of his mould playing in behind the strikers.
