    Celtic, meanwhile, have been linked with a move for Ajax defender Stefano Denswil.

    A Dutch under-21 international Denswil has been told he can leave the Amsterdam Arena as a free agent this summer, with Dutch newspapers claiming the Parkhead side and Juventus have made early enquiries.

    A potential replacement if Virgil van Dijk goes in January, Denswil's agent Winny Haatrecht said: 'Stefano's preference is basically to finish the season with Ajax.

    'If he is still playing at the beginning of March then Ajax might change their mind.'

    The Dutch media are saying that Ajax is letting him go for free this transfer window, the Daily Mail has it wrong again. If no one else wants him we might have a decent chance?

    I've been reading up on him. Looks like Ajax is letting him leave because he's been trying to find a bigger club (hints at possible attitude problems in that respect) and his contract runs out this summer. Ajax would let him go in January for free, but with a sell-on fee percentage.

    If he is looking for a bigger club than Ajax Celtic is probably not his first choice though.

    There're very few clubs bigger than Ajax, so that sounds like a lot of *. Nothing wrong with a bit of ego anyway, as long as it's justified.

    Wants a move to a bigger club and will probably end up at West Brom or Hull. Can't believe football has got to the stage where you'd rather be at * wee clubs than Ajax.

    It appears that Ajax will let him leave for free now as long as they get a sell on fee. Seems a bit odd but would be perfect if we could get him in and let him settle and replace Van Dijk come next season. I think we will be looking at a centre half in Jan anyway to cover for Efe (in general but because of the African Nation)
