  1. There you are comparing a much better player though.

If the option was McManus or Caldwell id take Caldwell. Balde or Van Dijk, Van Dijk, Ambrose or Loovens, Ambrose etc

    Is he any good?

I'd have us in the same bracket as the likes of Ajax and Schalke in terms of how good we are in Europe, therefore I think we should be aiming for higher than their dross.

As we learnt with Pukki and Boerrigter.

fair enough you've seen him a few times. Certainly not enough to have "always liked him" :smiley-laughing002:

Anyway, I've not seen him myself, but he must be better than ambrose!

Chiellini is a better defender but he is not a better footballer than Luiz, in a league like Scotland as well I feel it's very important to have a 'no-nonsense' style defender as most Scottish teams play very direct and it's better to have this style of defender against these teams than the more cultured ball-playing ones, I'm all for playing out from the back but I do think there needs to be solidity in the back four as well and players like Ambrose, whose greatest strength is probably his technical ability doesn't give your back four solidity at all. I'd always like Celtic to have one ball-playing CB and one no-nonsense, it's more balanced - would love to have seen Balde and VVD together.

The thing is, i don't think it's a replacement for Ambrose, it's a replacement for Van Dijk.
I've just got a bad feeling about it.

Is he that fantastically gifted, or is that just when he's not under pressure?

Then transfer that to the success we've had this season with a technically good defense. Technically good going forward but not technically gifted to deal with the ball in the air.

Talking to an Ajax fan on one of the boxing forums I go on he's got alot of good things to say about us says were a great club , great fans , some atg player and the hoops jersey is legendery .He's a hardcore football fan makes alot of best 11s etc think he knows his football .I asked him about Denswill and Borrrigter said Borrigter is good but lazy and that's what lets him down he can't afford to be lazy and said Denswill is average he can score quite good but can't defend like he's supposed to .

Where the * is Vinnie ?

Too busy arguing with an Argentinian in the pub section ? Or hiding after telling us Derk would be a superstar... better than Bale, sure that's the words he used.

    Aye, that's a fair point. :smiley-laughing002:

I'd rather Chiellini, whoever asked, but that's a whole different ball game. If we're dealing in average to fairly good defenders, I'd always take the one who's most entertaining. Just my preference.

Well avitar, what one of our defenders is likely to go in January and which ones are likely to stay. Work that one out and you can take a guess as to who'll be his defensive buddy in the centre.

What we'd be getting is a player worse than Van Dijk, not a player better than Ambrose.

Virgil was at Groningen. Denswil's at Ajax. I wouldn't write him off before he's kicked a ball at Paradise.

    This guy is amazing.

I've watched very game of his career.

I am telling you now he will be a legend here.

  16. He is horrible. We should flee from him as if he were infected with Ebola. Bad, atrocious defender.

I've never seen the guy play in the flesh in my life but I'll go out on a limb and say he is better than coco the clown.

For what its worth although I'd take him, I'd rather a different type of centre half was brought in. Someone less ball playing and more about sheer strength and who loves a tackle.

    * annoying people always assuming no * knows anything about football. We're on the internet * sake. Some of us watch Ajax v PSV, or Anderlecht v Brugge when we've got * all else to do. Some of us bet, and need to know what we're gambling on. Just cause you're clueless don't assume every other * is.

He played against us in both games last year. Gave away the penalty and deflected Kayal's goal in :smiley-laughing002:

Still, he could be worth a punt. We need a CB and there's worse out there than a Dutch u-21 international from Ajax.
