Reported in German media, all quoting the football magazine Kicker as the original source:

    http://www.reviersport.de/306791---halstenberg-naechstes-jahr-champions-league.html

    http://www.liga2-online.de/st-pauli-marcel-halstenberg-ist-heis-begehrt/

Are the Kiezkicker losing a beacon of hope? According to "Kicker" left-back Marcel Halstenberg has aroused the interest of well-known teams. Accordingly, should be interested in the 23-year-olds especially Hannnover 96 and Celtic Glasgow. Especially to the Niedersachsen Halstenberg could draw, because in Hannover he spent his youth, played at the 96ern to U23 before it drove him over Borussia Dortmund to St. Pauli. He brought it in the last two years to 51 second division inserts (four goals) and convinced especially in the closing stages of last season with good performances.

Hannover 96 are keeping an eye on St. Pauli's left back Marcel Halstenberg, chairman Martin Kind confirms. 23-year-old is mainly a target for head coach Michael Frontzeck, but the Lower Saxony side only want to pay a fee of €0.6m, St. Pauli reportedly demand €1m. Halstenberg left Hannover to join Borussia Dortmund back in 2011.

For €1m, it's a no-brainer for me. We should bring in Sobiech as well!

If only we'd signed Ginczek after his spell at St Pauli. :54:

    For the price, yes.

We need a left back and he is young enough to be improved. Surely we have a few regular St Pauli guys on here, any good?

I caught quite a few games at the end of the season there. I like him. €1m's nothing, either. I think Sobiech would be worth a punt as well.

There should be a few guys on here who know him better. Millerntor, maybe.

I remember Sobiech when he moved to Hamburg.

Not what we are used to, is he not a bit more awkward on the ball from what I remember? Looked a decent prospect though.

He's not too bad. He's not as quick as van Dijk or Denayer and he's not as good on the ball (not many centre-halves are) but he can defend and he's good in the air. Started out a Borussia Dortmund them moved to HSV, so he has a decent pedigree. Still quite young as well.

Hannover after him as well but that shouldn't be a problem. He'll know all about Celtic.

Hannover have just signed Sorg from Frieburg who can play left-back. Hannover's head coach was the head coach of St Pauli when Halstenberg was signed. If there is definite interest from them, or another Bundesliga side, I'd be surprised if he moved from Germany.

How is he as a player though? Another tall player we're being linked with as well I see.

Hannover have apparently submitted a €750.000 bid. Is he any good?

Similar to Mulgrew, but substantially faster I'd say. :50:

Not bad then, we'd be wanting a different option than Izzy as the back up.

Hope this is true that we are interested in Halstenberg. It will be good to have some competition for Izzy.
