Branching off my Maloney thread..I was reading this article about Swansea's tactics http://soccernet.espn.go.com/blog/_/name/tacticsandanalysis/id/349?cc=5901 and it mentioned how Ki completed 61 out of 62 passes against Chelsea.
Discuss Ki Sung-Yong in the World Football area at TalkCeltic.net.

Ki Sung Yeung is the greatest player ive ever seen in my life. I worship him and his performances for Swansea so far have been incredible. we're not missing Joe Allen at all which says a lot for Ki because Joe Allen was like the be all and end all to Swansea fans, the great local boy.

boy gets the ball in front of packed box, turns under pressure, passes into safety and then 5 seconds later appears upfield in the attacking third in the most amount of space ever seen on a football pitch to lead an attack. this happens 35 times each game. what a man. -
They worship Ki for doing things he was being criticized for at Celtic. Holding onto possession and play side way passes and the occasional through balls. I guess he just suits their style of play perfectly.
Better than Joe Allen IMO -

Quality player, and he's shown it at Swansea with his performances this season. He could add more goals to his game but other than that he's a top player. Didn't suit the Scottish game, unfortunately.

I really liked the kid, but I'm happy that he's winning plaudits down south for his performances so far. Good luck to him!

I knew he'd do better in the EPL....more space, more time
-
Good luck to him

Joe Allen is 10 times the player Ki is.
How many assists did he make or goals did he score? Is he just there to pass the ball backwards and sideways?
He remains a complete enigma. Passive, powder puff and our 5th or even 6th choice midfielder when he was here for a reason. -

Disagree, Ki was a good player. Probably the best technically gifted midfielder we had under Lennon. The SPL didn't suit him - you can't get the time and space on the ball necessary to showcase your skill and passing game the same way in the SPL as you do in the EPL. Knew he'd be a good signing for them.

For me; Brown, Wanyama, Ledley, Kayal were all guaranteed starters before him and I would also have McCourt there before him who has scored or created every time he has played centre mid.

He could be the most technically-gifted player in the world and still not be good enough for us if he hadn't the heart.
Anyhoo - just glad he's off our books, with a nice sexy, silky cheque for £6m that we robbed off Swansea for a squad player who is certainly NOT missed. -

Swansea fans consider 6m to be an incredible bargain and he's paid that back already with his all action start...considering our transfer record a few years ago was £1m for us to consider £6m a bargain highlights how highly we think of him.
The fact we aren't missing Joe Allen, who I can't stress how highly we rated him, speaks volumes as well. Not as good as Leon Britton yet but not many are. You need to watch us in person for a full game to really understand how good these midfielders like Ki and Britton really are at what they do. The space Ki finds is amazing -
I miss him. Enjoy his displays, Jack. :50:
