Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??
Ah *, he of all players at Parkhead didn't deserve such an acrimonious end to his Celtic. His experience, i feel would have really been beneficial to GS in particular, disappointed but we all know football is a cut-throat business. BTW hes much too good for the Championship, and Souness wants Craig Moore, wats hapnin! -
Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??
You know, the rate things are going, Strachan is going to need to sign at least 8 or 9 players this summer :(
I am actually starting to get worried now. -
I'm raging at this. For two reasons, firstly he's a * decent player (and a true celt), he a defender which is an area we're desperately lacking in. Secondly don't think he deserved to be treated like this at all, Jackies never complained about being on the sidelines and has produced the goods whenever asked!!
To let our captain and arguebly one of our better players to leave like this is not a good start for GS.
Noticed today the Rankers have signed another decent player!! -

Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??
just seen this on sky aswell it looks like its a done deal 1 year contract after 10 years of service!!!! whats up with this club -
Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??
bout sums up the board over the last few years don't it.
Same old same old: whispers of money and new signings yet all the while letting players go.
U have to expect the unexpected with this lot.
Looks like we'll be playing our under 21's this season, (probably still good enough for 2nd place ) -
Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??
Celtic skipper Jackie McNamara looks set to sign for Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 31-year-old Scotland international is out-of-contract and appears set to end his 10-year association with the Glasgow club.
McNamara told The Scotsman newspaper: "Wolves made me a good offer, they made me feel wanted and I was impressed with what boss Glenn Hoddle had to say.
"If the medical goes without a hitch, I will definitely be signing for Wolves."
New Celtic coach Gordon Strachan was determined to keep hold of McNamara but the player appears to have made up his mind.
"I had always hoped to finish my career with Celtic," he added.
"But I had to make a choice that was the right one for my family and myself in the circumstances."
McNamara was angry at being offered a one-year deal by Celtic and is set to sign a two-year contract at Molineux.
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey added: "We have been talking to Jackie for a week or so.
"He is one of Glenn Hoddle's principal targets and is scheduled to have a medical. Subject to that he could sign a contract to become a Wolves player."
-------------------------
I am in utter disbelief at this news, I only found out about 5 mins ago, talk about out of nowhere ! Can't ask any more of Jackie, he's been a great, great servant to Celtic, I wish him all the best for the future. The thing that annoys me about this is they offer liabilities like Balde, and players like Thompson who are in their twilight year 3 and 4 year deals and yet a great near legendary Celtic player like Jackie Mac who plays absolutely brilliant 99% of the time gets offered a one year deal, not good enough Celtic :38:Last edited by a moderator: Jun 14, 2005 -
Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??
Its gonna be interesting to see what kind of team we will have at the start of the season..
Maybe Strachan hasnt yet realised that in the SPL decent players dont want to come and play in it..couple that with less wages than down south what chance do we have..
Good luck Jackie.....
And i hope Strachan learns quickly that to get players to CP isnt as easy as it is down south... -
Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??
This is a disgrace. He is only 31 and being offered a one-year deal??? He's being consistantly great for us. I'm sickened. We should've punted Balde off to Wolves and kept Jackie :47: -
Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??
If anything it has proved a bad PR move for GS. JMac was adored by the faithful.GS may take the flack, but a player of Jackies standing at CP should really have had his contract extended last summer. The club have failed him. -

Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??
This is an absolute outrage. Can't fault Jackie at all for wanting to leave if it was only a 1 year contract extension on the table for him. Fair play, good luck to him for the rest of his career. I can't believe what is happening here guys, the captain is off, no new players in and no MON. Surely it wont be 2 in a row!!!! -
Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??
fukin joke . Huw could thy only offer our club captain a one year deal wen he has 3 years left. Our defence has been a joke for yerars and Jackie is the only consistent one!!! He said he would stay if he got offered a 2 yr deal. This is a * nightmare. We'll be lucky if we're challenging Dundee Utd right now as our club captain is leaving us for a MID TABLE CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM -

Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??
I have nothing new to add to whats been said already but I'm * going daft at this news too.
absolute farce, and agree with others that good on him for telling celtic where to go. for a player of his quality and good captain its a * disrespect and cheek to only offer him 1year contract.
ive always loved the fact that so many celtic players REALLY want to play at the club. even hartson the pieman goes ecstatic when he scores and of course larsson who could have gone anywhere years ago but stayed and played for the badge.
* nonsense this is.:31:
edit: have you noticed when you go to www.celticfc.net it was until today jackie that was modelling the new kit, now its lennon...
edit2: just heard about the wolves media conference to be held at 3pm british time.Last edited by a moderator: Jun 14, 2005 -

Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??
Guess we all just got to remain confident Gordon Strachan is going to make some decent signings, a lot of it at the moment is merely paper talk and the only signing i know we are for sure trying to get is Craig Bellamy as Strachan confirmed that at the press conference, he hasn't named anyone else as of yet who he is after. This Zurawski sounds like he has a good scoring record but here's hoping that if we do sign him, he doesn't turn into another Harald Brattbakk :/
Would still prefer we got Robbie Keane though..Keano and Bellers would be a dream of a strike force -
Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??
Disgusted. A one year contract offer is not good enough for a player like Jackie. He is a top class player and very consistent. He should be in the EPL if anything, not the Championship and it's a shame he would rather end his career fighting to make it in the EPL/fighting relegation from there. He could have fought for more medals and gone for it with Strachan in the CL.
All I can THINK is that Strach wants to bring in younger players and build a team but Jack's not that old, 31 with 2 or 3 good years in him. He better get a move on though and get some quality in.
Who decided though if we offer a player 1 or 2 years? The board? The manager? Or both? Because I think Strachan would have preferred him for two years? What has happened?
