If Jackie thinks this is a step up then he is sadly dissilusioned having said that his best years are behind him now so if we can cash in then why not??

    Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??

All this transfer news is too much for us fans who support celtic 24/7. We deserve to have positive things to talk about like new signings but it looks like we're losing Jackie Mac to a Championship side:47: .
We've already lost Rab and Sylla to the Championship (Leicester). Bobo is winking at the Bundesliga and apparently our club captain is heading to Wolves!:38: I'm not annoyed at Jackie, he has been loyal to the club for the past decade, I'm annoyed at the Celtic Board for not loosening the pursestrings and making the sensible decisions that are asked of them.
MON adapted to the harsh reality of pocket-change transfer spending. GS needs to act fast in the transfer market with the money he's got:87: , before more players consider departure.

He has now signed - 2 year deal.

Did you know Sheff Utd are tracking our out of contract defender STEPHEN MCMANUS? What is going on??

On a more positive front though, we're closing in on a deal for Bellers.

    Wolves fan here.

If he's as good a player as you say then thanks very much lads. Seems just the sort of player we need being so versatile at the back.

It's almost the same situation we had last year with our board only offering Alex Rae a 1-year deal and him going to Rangers.

You sure you don't want Henri Camara ;)

    Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??

As long as he's out of our hair for a couple of £m I don't care where he goes.

A few Wolves fans have been questioning Jackie's age and the level he'll be playing at now. Does he still have plenty of legs for a scrappier league at 31?

It has been suggested that he will be up against a more consistent level of opposition than in the SPL, and the Championship forwards will be better than a lot of SPL forwards (You and the Gers excepted). Do you think this is true of the SPL and will he cope admirably?

How has he played in the CL games?

Also, in light of West Ham and Wigan reportedly after him as well, is he genuinely signing for us in direct competition with Prem teams or did those clubs think he may not be up to the EPL at 31?

    Cheers lads.

    Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??

I reckon * be ok in the Championship..no probs,,

He has the legs and the desire...he played well in the CL....

Dont think there isa great deal of difference between the top half of the Championship and the lower half of the EPL myself...
I reckon you have got yourself a good player...

Then again,,some said that of Kenny Miller and he coudlnt hit the side of a barn with a bus!!

  12. Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??

Well, in my opinion he was only captain because he's been here the longest! Maybe we can make Petrov Captain, coz he DEFINITELY should be. This is scandalous though, what a thing to do.

Celtic captain and Scotland international Jackie McNamara has completed his Bosman free transfer to Wolves.
The 31-year-old utility player, who can play in both full-back positions as well as midfield, has joined the Molineux club on a two-year contract after turning down the offer of a new one-year deal at Parkhead.
McNamara said: "I made my mind up last night and gave my word to Wolves and Glenn Hoddle I would sign.
""So as far as I was concerned, all I had to do was travel down today and have the medical.
"I want to play in the Premiership and as far as I'm concerned, Wolves are a Premiership club in the wrong division."
Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said: "Celtic went into overdrive to keep Jackie and we see this as a massive coup for our club." :47:

    Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??

This makes our position a LOT LOT worse...

not only do we now need to strengthen the team that was left from last season we need to replace one of our/our only decent defender...

I bet the huns are * themselves at the moment...

He was our best but he still IMO isn't a massive loss as long as we can bring a decent replacement in. He was a bit better than average in the SPL he is not great so Im not too bothered.

Now Jackie bhoy don't worry, your futures mighty bright, for 15 years like (fill in the blank, can't remember) You'll be charging down the right, and we'll chant your name and spread your fame throughout the football world....... etc. shows that celtic have let Jackie down, he is a true celt, our captain and is getting better and better over the past few years. Jackie is always reliable in defense and im sorry this is how he will be leaving celtic. Jackie will be great where ever he goes and good luck, how would have thought that when you walked past us at your testimonial it would be your last game in the hoops. number 4 will always b MacNamara. all the best jackie, shame on celtic with their one year deals for a great bhoy...

    Re: jackie mac to wolves!!!!??

i agree but he was still a good player and only opens up another gap that needs replaced. which knowing how things generally work for us, will be a gap this time next year too.

i just think its a disgrace how a guy thats spent 10 committed years gets the * taken out of him with a pathetic offer.

Was a great player for us, I'll miss him, but we'll have to move on. All these players leaving Celtic means that we have to get new faces in to replace them. Makes the transfer window all the more exciting.

I don't find it exciting! I'm very curious!
