The guy looked the best striker we have had in years this season before injury. He had had just one full game since being out for a couple of months. He had asbolutely no first touch the Saturday before and was better but still very rusty v. Aalborg. Give the guy a break. He was no where near match fit v Aalborg. A couple more games and he will be getting near match fit but FFS you cant blame him for a bad performance. The fault lies with Celtics board not shelling out enough to have 4 quality strikers. We only have 3 experienced strikers of quality and one is out and one is not match fit. That left WGS with a choice between a very raw teenager or a half fit Sammy. I dont think he could have won either way and the issue is lack of a 4th quality striker. A team that wants to play in a whole load of competitions including Europe needs 4 good strikers.
Discuss cant believe Samaras is getting it in the neck in the Celtic Chat area at TalkCeltic.net.

He has no first touch when fully fit, fact.
He missed two sitters in an important match we lost, he deserves to get some stick for it. -

I agree we should have 4 strikers, especially when VOH is often injured during every season. I also agree with Dempsey that his touch is poor.
We bought him for 1 million or so and he's been worth that so far. -

I'm not saying he's a bad player and forgetting what he's done so far for Celtic but that doesnt excuse him from stick about his 2 misses. He has to make it up to us.

sammy had a good start to the season but unfortunately he's just one of those players who has the potential to turn in a shockingly bad performance now and again.
-
Half fit or not he was absolutely shocking against Aalborg, Sheridan got it in the neck off some people but he did more than Sammy did in 5 minutes then he did the whole game when he came on.
He's been clinical so far this season, long may it continue, but these games he has when he looks dis-interested at best have to be kept to a minimum. -
Don't care how good or fit he is, he shouldn't be missing chances like that.
I don't go for all this *, if he'd played another 2 games, he'd have taken those chances. He missed 2 out and out sitters, and I don't put that down to lack of games, just poor finishing on the night.
Same goes for Naka, poor finish, and both deserve stick for it. -
Best striker in years, The guy has no first touch for starters. and most of his goals are either tap ins or shots the keepers should have saved.
People are overrating him because of his 2 brilliant goals against Kilmarnock. -
That's one thing I wouldn't agree with. He's scored some fine goals this and last season. His goals at Kilmarnock were superb. -
but apart from his Headers against Aberdeen and Inverness, what goals would you class as fine ?
his goal against Hamilton sums it all up for me, oh and Falkirk too. -
He took the Motherwell ones well and one of the Falkirk ones was another fine finish. Anyway, as long as he's scoring, who cares.
At the end of the day, he's a good SPL player. -

Samaras just shouldn't have started against Aalborg!
He wasn't fully fit.
He's done well so far this season and he'll know himself that he'll have to make up for it.
Nakamura is the one I'm more disappointed about with his miss.
