Celtic are aiming to beat Chelsea to the signature of highly-rated Bolton Wanderers forward Ronan Darcy

Football Insider are reporting that despite the Blues having made enquiries about Darcy after he caught the eye of their scouts, their impending transfer ban has handed the Scottish giants a free run at securing the youngster’s signature.

The current SPL champions will pay a nominal compensation fee for the 18-year-old, as cross-border rules mean Scottish clubs are able to sign players from England for a fraction of the amount clubs south of the border need to pay in compensation.

Exactly, so that takes them out of the race completely.

They appealed the ban again, so the ban could be postponed until after the appeal process is complete.

They did for the original apeal, but it's not up to them now if they are taking it to CAS. They (CAS) can decide whether the ban remains or gets waived until the appeal goes through.
