Basically sums up my emotion. The last two transfer windows have been poor in terms of taking us up a level or preparing for the long term. There’s a lot of work to be done this summer regardless of who in charge.

I never believed the likes of Benitez or Mourinho were realistic. Beyond that I’m not too clued up on who was. The most likely scenario was always going to be Lennon getting appointed on a permanent basis if he achieved the treble.

The biggest season in Celtics history was 1967!

The next 2 are non-events in comparison!

Hopefully the pressures off neil and the team in the summer after winnin the treble, treble.I wanted someone else but who was realistically availible?Moyes or clarke wouldnt have pleased us either.Rafa, mourinho were unrealistic.Bilic, biesla, eddie howe, hughton, wagner would have been big risks at highwages.Rose was one the most sought after coaches in europe and was not easy to get, other bundesliga coaches would have been risks.Bertie vogts anyone?Remember him the top european coach? Most of them anyway are on top dollar and hard to coax from there league.A lot of other names who the bookies mentioned werent even interested.

Lennon has an eye for a player, that's quite clear.

At Hibs he lost Stokes and Simon Murray in the same January transfer window and managed to get Kambieri for £100k and Australian international Jamie McLaren in.

The fact he has been pro-active already in looking at players (visited Paris FC and down at West Brom last week) shows he is already thinking ahead.

As long as the board back him with funds, he should be given £10 million minimum plus anything we bring in addifionally in player sales. Through a combination of poor scouting & recruitment and a conflict betwen boardroom & management, we have allowed the squad to regress markedly..

As stated many times, this summer is absolutely huge for us. We need to freshen everything up and give us our competitive edge back. If we do our business efficiently and back Lennon with the players he wants then I have no doubt we will win the League next season.

Another Treble? Who knows. It would be brilliant but Champions League qualification and winning the League are our top priorities.

Lenny wasnt my first choice and yes there prob are others that would jump at the chance. But with the light of the day maybe the board see this as the sensible option. So close to 9 and 10 iar it is not the time for experiments and taking chances. They know what they are getting with Lenny, my only concern if the stick to their money saving biscuit tin mentality they do not give him the budget. Then we will struggle

He is the easy option and unless we were going to get the likes of Rafa in then Lennon was the best man to get the job.

Knows us inside out and has built teams before, as long as he is backed then we’ll walk 10IAR. Another big factor is the squad love him and I think Broony would have had a bit of input into who was going to get the job.

As long as he keeps the fitness and tactics side Brendan brought in then I’ll be happy.

Genuine question for those who, despite not having the appointment that they wanted, now that Lenny has been confirmed: are you going to get behind him and the team and support them, or continue to be resentful or resistant, and take every opportunity to be critical and undermine what Lenny, the team and the club as a whole are seeking to achieve?

There is nothing that posturing and grandstanding at this time is going to accomplish or benefit in effecting a positive outcome going forward. Build yourself a bridge and get over it. No point dwelling on what might have been - and in all likelyhood was never actually going to be - and move on.

    No for me.

Didn't want him and I see it as a short sighted and cheap option. The fact Lawwell used "he knows the city" as one of the reasons to offer him it is worrying.

For me, it's a sign of us moving backwards. Rodgers appointment was clearly a flash in the pan with the board obviously not keen on spending on anyone other than a supposed Celtic man.

The funny thing is I genuinely believed we wouldn't give him it. No point hoping he will reject it either because he knows where his bread is buttered now.

Long summer ahead first of all. Have to get behind him now.

No really. 44/45 days until our first competitive game. So that's 43 days until our first loan signing :fear:

I never ever believed the benitiz or mourhino nonsense ! and I dont believe that PL never spoke to anybody else about the job , that would have been dereliction of duty . To me it means tho the middle order of people we approached turned us down and thats disappointing ! , but its Lenny and the fans must give him our 100% backing because sure as night follows day its , get the wage bill down , sell before you buy .. and only if peter likes the signing , the 9 million for the rat nah that disappeared into corporate regulated abridged possibilities .. or CRAP for short .
    Best of luck Lenny .

    You should.

Any cause your enemies have to celebrate is either wishful thinking on their part or should be a cause for concern on ours.

Slippy gave Lennon an absolute spanking at Ibrox. They know it, and we know it. And Lenny was the experienced "old firm" manager up against a rookie in his first season with a team of players who wouldnt get near our starting 11.

I live in hope that Lennon was following the Fraudgers blueprint and has his own ideas ready for deployment next year.

Either way, he has to change something.

I usually enjoy your posts Taz, normally quite well written and informative. But this one is farcical mate. To openly suggest that a Celtic fan who is concerned over the appointment of Neil Lennon as manager is actively and deliberately trying to undermine what this club wants to achieve is disgraceful.
There are Celtic fans who live and breath this club 24*7, who bleed green & white, who want this club to be all it can be and more, and they have genuine concerns. I don't see agendas.
I was in a boozer in Dublin yesterday, packed full of us from all over Ireland & Scotland, place was hopping at games end. Then the news came through about Lennon, there was plenty of conversation. Opinions and views of all kind but it was talked out by fans, not by 'tough * just get over it' attitudes. There was a majority unhappy with the timing of the announcement, but to a man acceptance that Lennon will need total backing from the money men. That happens and everyone will soon get on board with Neil.

In answer to your ridiculous question, I don't think Neil Lennon is the best choice, but I'm behind my club 100% as always.
