Ach well, they were unlucky.

The 'keeper that came on for the pens had a bit of a 'mare.

 

So we've lost basically as the keeper * the 5th penalty then got done on sudden death?

Ah pity. Had the 5th to win it as well. Would have been a great scalp but went toe to toe with one of the most expensively funded academies in the world.

 

That's unreal..

Just keep the boy who was already in for his confidence..

 

I think at the end of each game the teams all took 5 pens...so can only assume that the reserve keeper did well enough to swap over...saved the first but didn't look good diving way too early for 3 pens. Team played well, but clearly some room for improvement in several positions.

 

Whens our next game un the supercup N.I.?

We’ve signed Emile Legault. Canadian right back who can also play for France.

Was in the Auxerre academy.

 

We didn't enter the Super Cup NI (Milk Cup) as such.

The U19s game vs Utd was just a 'challenge game' to launch the tournament.
There used to be an U19 competition for international teams that was played out over the week but it seems to have been scrapped and this was a replacement of sorts. (I think there's a Euros or WC on at 19's level at the minute?)

The tournament proper has been running from Monday to today at both U15 and U17 level as usual. United have a 15s team entered but Celtic entered neither age group.

 

Interesting..

You'd imagine Ralston will deffo be going on loan now..

We're clearly in for a first team right back as well..

The Canadian men’s under-21 team has been turning a couple of heads with their performances this week at the Toulon Tournament in France.

Who has stood out so far for Canada?

Having not conceded through two games at this tournament, the backline deserve a lot of credit. Central to that has been Derek Cornelius, a 20-year-old playing in the Serbian top flight. Calm and composed when he needs to be, but also aggressive at key moments, Cornelius could well develop into the solid central defender Canada has been lacking of late.

Both fullbacks have also had great tournaments. Émile Legault, an 18-year-old fullback who plays for AJ Auxerre in France was Canada’s best player in the first match. On the other side of the field, Daniel Kinumbe of the Impact’s academy has been just as good. His ability at both ends of the field has been one of the biggest surprises so far this tournament.

 

Can't see anywhere that this game is being broadcast but the playoff and final of this 4 team tournament will be shown on the Free Sports channel this Sunday.
