    * 2-0 up with 8 minutes to go and seemingly coasting and ending losing 3-2, the defence is really poor at the youth level this season.

THREE goals inside the last eight minutes from Dundee United consigned Celtic to their first league defeat of the season as the Hoops went down 3-2.
Tommy McIntyre’s side had dominated much of the game and Kerr McInroy's two first-half goals had put them in control, but a late flurry from the home side produced an unexpected and very disappointing result.
It was Celtic who dominated possession in the opening minutes of the match, their slick passing proving difficult for the home side to deal with, though chances were at a premium in the opening exchanges between the sides.
Jack Aitchison came closest on 24 minutes when he collected a pass 30 yards out, turned and drove at the Dundee United defence before cutting inside and unleashing a powerful shot which went narrowly over the bar.
However, just two minutes later, Celtic took the lead when McInroy manufactured the chance which he then converted.
He glided passed a United defender before he was tackled on the edge of a crowed penalty area. However, the attempted clearance came back off the Celtic player and McInroy was the first to react, firing home a low shot into the bottom corner to make it 1-0.
The Hoops now pressed forward in search of a second goal, with Ewan Henderson coming close from a free-kick on the edge of the area, before he tried to set up Aitchison inside the area after driving forward towards the United goal.
In the final minute of the first-half, Tommy McIntyre’s side doubled their lead and, once again, it was McInroy who provided the goal, converting a free-kick to make it 2-0 to the Hoops going into the break.
And on the hour mark, the United goalkeeper denied McInroy his hat-trick when he saved the young Celt’s free-kick.
Dundee United had shown little or no attacking intent in the game, due mainly to Celtic’s dominance, but on 70 minutes Robbie Deas produced a superbly-timed sliding tackle inside his own area to prevent a United striker getting a shot away.
McInroy came close again nine minutes remaining, though another good save from the United goalkeeper denied him his treble.
And on 82 minutes, the home side reduced the deficit when Logan Chalmers smashed a powerful shot into the roof of the net, leaving Ryan Mullen with no chance. Four minutes later, it was 2-2. The Hoops defence failed to clear the danger inside the area and the ball took a deflection on its way into the Celtic net.
Things went from bad to worse for the Hoops as Dundee United scored their third goal of the afternoon to take the lead for the first time in the game. Mullen made a great save from an initial shot, but the Celtic goalkeeper could do nothing to prevent the United substitute following up to convert the rebound.
Celtic now went in search of an equaliser and had the ball in the back of the net just 60 seconds later, but Stephen Welsh’s effort was ruled out for offside.
It was a disappointing start to 2018 for Tommy McIntyre’s side, who had been the better side for much of the match but left St Andrews empty-handed.

TONIGHT’S scheduled SPFL Development League game against St Mirren at the Paisley 2021 Stadium has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The game was postponed following a pitch inspection at 12noon and a new date will be announced in due course.
