He did say Miller when he was on the run then he seen the number on the shirt and said Lindsay. Tbf it did look like Miller.

Some save from their keeper at that corner.

just home how are we playing tonight and what's the team

  7. Swervedancer Guest

Well played Miller, only seen his second goal but it looks like he also puts in a good shift defensively.

I only switched on late. Playing well from what I've seen and Miller just got MOTM. Jamie Lindsay scored a cracker.

    Don't know the full team.

Been excellent tonight, very good football played with pace. Whoever coaches the defenders at set pieces against should have a go with the first team, we have been immense at defending balls into the box.

Aye so true, especially cause when Astana beat Zalgiris the other day one was from a corner and the other from a floated ball in.

Sociedad put a lot of pressure on us too as they have a few skilful players but the defence seemed to handle it well.

You know what time that is at? First team play Leicester at 5.30pm so hopefully it's a 3pm kick off and can see both games.

Just seen Miller's first goal, what a run and header that was. The guy looks a brilliant player, as has been said, give him a go in the first team please. He can play on the left too which is a position we need to fill.

A YOUNG Celtic Development Squad side recorded an impressive 3-1 victory over Real Sociedad in the SupercupNI in Ballymena tonight (Thursday).
Despite dominating the first-half, the Hoops conceded a goal on the stroke of half-time, but Tommy McIntyre’s side didn’t allow that blow to knock them off their stride and they produced an even stronger showing in the second 45 minutes to win the match and set up a final clash with Everton on Saturday.
Calvin Miller, who was a constant menace to the Sociedad defence throughout the night down the left wing, scored two excellent goals before Jamie Lindsay extended Celtic’s lead with a superb solo effort.
Celtic had the first clear chance of the game after 12 minutes with a Miller cross into the box, but Jack Aitchison, at full stretch, couldn’t direct it on target. Five minutes later, Joe Thomson came close from an Anthony Ralston down the right-hand side, but the Sociedad defence cleared the danger.
On 21 minutes, Miller had the ball in the back of the net when he controlled the ball on the edge of the box and burst into the area, slotting the ball beyond the keeper, but it was ruled out for handball by the Celtic player.
It took Sociedad until the half-hour mark before they created a chance but it didn’t trouble Ross Doohan in the Celtic goal, though they came closer five minutes later with a cross from the right, but Ralston did well to head clear from the edge of the six-yard box.
The Spanish side were coming into the game now, and they came close with a shot from outside the box which went narrowly wide. But they had better luck on 44 minutes with another shot from 20 yard out which took a deflection off Sam Wardrop and ended up in the back of the net to give them a 1-0 half-time lead they barely deserved.
Four minutes into the second-half, Calvin Miller had a great solo run, but the keeper dealt with the final shot. However, the young Celt was not to be denied. Aidan Nesbitt jinked past a challenge in the inside right position and swung in a cross to the far post where Miller was first to react, heading it beyond the keeper from six yard out.
Five minutes later, Miller scored his second, latching on to a pass from Regan Hendry and showing great composure to get beyond his man and slot the ball past the keeper
It was a stunning turnaround, and Tommy McIntyre’s side continued to dominate the game, creating a number of chances, and on 71 minutes they scored a third. This time it was Jamie Lindsay who gathered the ball 35 yards out and waltzed past four Sociedad defenders before coolly finishing to make it 3-1.
Real Sociedad’s efforts to get back into the game became increasingly frantic, but the Celtic defence remained disciplined and resolute in denying the Spanish side any prospect of another goal.
It was an excellent performance from the young Celts who now look forward to a final showdown this Saturday against Everton, who beat Espanyol in the other semi-final.
CELTIC: Doohan; Ralston (Higgins 87), Wardrop, Kelleher, McIlduff; Lindsay, Thomson; Nesbitt (Hill 85), Hendry (Murray) 83), Miller (Archibald 81); Aitchison (Crossan 52)

Wonder if Miller will get a chance with the first team this season. Considering he seems to play on the left regularly he'd be worth a shot.
