JACK Aitchison struck a second-half hat-trick as Celtic Under-17 hammered their Hamilton counterparts at Lennoxtown 5-0 to seal the league title in swashbuckling style.
And that means that the Hoops will participate in the UEFA Youth League again next season, having guaranteed their entry via the domestic champions pathway.
In the final game of the season, Michael O’Halloran’s side required at least a draw against Accies to claim the championship and make it a domestic double following their Glasgow Cup success, but they produced a sparkling performance to sprint across the finishing line.
Ross McLaughlin opened the scoring in the 11th minute when he fastened onto a through ball and slid a shot under the keeper.
Michael Johnston doubled the advantage nine minutes after the interval, applying the finish after a neat exchange of passes.
The winger then turned provider for the Bhoys, embarking on a lung-bursting run before supplying Aitchison, who fired home.
The young striker quickly grabbed his second and Celtic’s fourth of the match with a superb solo effort.
And he secured his quick-fire treble in the 76th minute after collecting a pass from Johnston in the box and converting from 10 yards.
The young Celts had spurned two chances to confirm the championship in recent weeks, losing to Hamilton and drawing with Hibernian on the road, and their determination to get the job done was evident from kick off.
With two changes from the team that were held by Hibs – Robbie Deas and Kerr McInroy coming into the side at the expense of Josh Kerr and Broque Watson – the hosts soon wrestled control of the game and grabbed the vital early breakthrough.
A lovely through ball sent McLaughlin in the clear and he maintained his composure to slide the ball under the advancing goalkeeper.
Aidan McAdams made a smart save as the visitors attempted to respond but the young Hoops soon resumed the offensive, with Deas blasting over from distance and Ewan Henderson and McLaughlin coming close.
Henderson chipped over when one-on-one with the keeper and left-back Daniel Church drilled wide after an enterprising forward foray.
A jinking run from Johnston in the 37th minute saw him reach the edge of the area and pull the trigger. His effort cannoned off a defender but his appeals for a handball were waved away by the referee.
McInroy shot over on the stroke of half-time as O’Halloran’s side went in at the break with just the one goal to show for all their dominance.
But the pattern of play continued after the restart as McInroy looped a header over from Stephen Welsh’s cross.
Number two finally arrived in the 54th minute. After the Bhoys had cut open the Accies defence with a swift series of passes, Johnston lofted a cool finish beyond keeper.
Aitchison saw a shot saved and a goal disallowed as the home side maintained their momentum, but the 17-year-old was rewarded for his efforts in the 64th minute.
Johnston’s pace and skill was too much for the Hamilton defence as he drove forward from his own half to the edge of the box to tee-up Aitchison, who made no mistake.
As the game entered its closing stages, the Lanarkshire outfit’s resistance crumbled as Aitchison danced past several defenders in the box before burying a shot into the net.
He bagged his treble with 14 minutes left on the clock. The hit-man and Johnston combined again to devastating effect, allowing Aitchison to pick his spot from 10 yards.
The final whistle was the signal for joyous celebrations among the players, management team – O’Halloran, John McLaughlan and George McCluskey - and backroom staff which continued into the home dressing room as the season finished with a flourish for the Celtic Youth Academy.

BRENDAN Rodgers has passed on his congratulations to Celtic Under-17s after the young Hoops sealed the league championship in style today against Hamilton Accies.
Michael O’Halloran’s side swept aside the Lanarkshire outfit 5-0 in their final game of the season at Lennoxtown, with Jack Aitchison bagging a hat-trick. Ross McLaughlin and Michael Johnston were also on target for the Bhoys in a sparkling showing.
And by clinching the title, it means Celtic will participate in the UEFA Youth League again, having guaranteed their entry via the domestic champions pathway.
Speaking to the official website, Brendan Rodgers said: “Congratulations to our U17 squad, to the players and staff on a victorious day.
“To play for Celtic at whatever level it's about playing attacking football and understanding what it takes to be a winner. These steps are important to become a first-team player. Well done to everyone."

That was some double save by the keeper right before the final whistle, saving the penalty and from the rebound.

Aye the last kick of the ball, fantastic goalkeeping.

Dembele looks an incredible player, the speed of him in the videos is amazing and he can keep the ball at his feet at the same time.

Winning that cup is a fantastic achievement, well done the young Hoops.

Beating Dortmund is no mean feat because I bet they have some youth academy too.

Hopefully it means another golden generation for us in 5 6 years time.

Cheers for the report Tony :50:

Just found that vid! Brilliant! Should hopefully take full advantage of having obvious talent in the youth ranks. We should be like an Ajax or Sporting Portugal in the sense of have a really good youth system and with a good amount coming through into the first team and selling on for top £. Here's hoping! :celt_2::shamrock:

Regan Hendry has signed a new 3 year deal with the club

YOUNG attacking midfielder Regan Hendry has today signed a new three-year contract with the club.
The 18-year-old was a key player last season for the Development Side who went through the entire campaign without experiencing defeat on their way to securing the league title.
He also shone for the Bhoys in the UEFA Youth League and featured in the Premier League International Cup
The Edinburgh Bhoy, who joined the Celtic Youth Academy six years ago from Hutchison Vale, put pen to paper in the Celtic boardroom late this afternoon in front of his family and the club’s Head of Youth, Chris McCart.
And the young Celt told the official website that he will now be aiming to maintain his progress and make inroads into the first team next season.
He said: “It was special three years ago as well, but this is probably a bigger one for me as this is a bit more serious.
"I will have been at the club for six years by the end of the contract and hopefully I can develop as a player and a person in that time.
"It shows they rate me highly to give a three-year deal and hopefully I can kick on now prove to them and my family that I have it takes to make it at Celtic.
“Last season was a good one for me. As a team it couldn’t have went any better. It was obviously disappointing when we went out the UEFA tournament and the Youth Cup but going undefeated in the league was perfect and there is still a lot more to come from me.
“I had a few good games but there were games where I feel I could have done a lot more and this year I will be aiming to be more consistent throughout, including the UEFA competitions, which will help take me up to the first team.
Hendry will report back for pre-season on Monday, determined to show new manager Brendan Rodgers that he can follow in the footsteps of the likes of Kieran Tierney and break into the top team.
He said: “All the boys who have went up have deserved it and will have benefited from it.
"For me, it’s good to look up to that as it obviously means there is a chance and with the new manager coming in, he’s going to look to the youth as well.
“He’s a big name and it’s great for Celtic to bring in someone like that. He has used his youth players previously so hopefully he looks down to us.
“I have heard that he wants a small squad and that will be a benefit us as that will give us more of a chance to get up there and show what we have got.”
“We start back on Monday and hopefully I can kick on from there. I will work hard every day - that’s what everyone says but you really do need to get into it and give it your all, and hopefully the manager sees something in me."
Celtic’s Head of Youth, Chris McCart, said: “Regan performed very well last season and he was a main part of the U20s.
"He impressed the first-team manager and the coaching staff last year and he now has to do it again with a new manager and assistant manager coming in.
“We are absolutely delighted we have got him for the next three years for his development and hopefully within that time he can make the breakthrough.

He certainly has the talent and he just needs to consistently demonstrate that he is good enough for the first team and keep on knocking on the door.”

Impressed when I seen him, good news.

Don't see where all these young midfielders are going to get their chance though.Maybe get the lad on loan for the season now.
