Youth/Development Team Thread

CELTIC'S Head of Youth Chris McCart has revealed that four Development Squad players - Jack Breslin, Ciaran Lafferty, Calum Waters and Blair Kidd – have departed the club.
“We have released four players at Development Squad level – Jack Breslin, Ciaran Lafferty, Calum Waters and Blair Kidd,” said McCart. “They are four excellent players and four players who have put a lot of work in.
“It’s always difficult at this time of year, especially when you have players so dedicated and who have worked very well throughout but when you get to a certain stage you have to make tougher decisions.
“As a club and Academy we wish them well for the future and we will always be here as a reference point to try and support them and hopefully they get new clubs next year.”

 

I wonder if it was a good idea to release them before Rodgers had a look?

 

Breslin was a bit unfortunate in that he has been played at right back mostly and even though he has done well there he has already been passed in the pecking order by two younger, better players in Sam Wardrop and Anthony Ralston.

 

Has Anthony Ralston played for the first team yet? I had a look on Wikipedia to see our squad size and there are a few youngsters included in it because they have actually appeared for the first team in some capacity, be it a friendly or just a few minutes in a league game.

Aye sorry I just noticed that when I read back a few posts. I thought it was the development squad at first and that confused me.

Great stuff from the Under 17s winning the league too.

 

So I think that means Celtic represent Scotland in the youth Champions League again next season
