Your Greatest Ever Celt

I can't believe he was Lord Provost for a while, his dealings with tax while at the club wasn't exactly on the up and up.

The stories about him fiddling with attendance figures is legendary.

 

Just something special about watching such a wee player have so much magic in every step and touch and ability to outplay players who were easily twice his size.

Jinky also had a wonderful personality and sense of humour. Just an all around amazing little guy. Watching / hearing about Jinky was one of the first things that believe it or not got me so fascinated in Celtic so I'd have to go with him.

Heart's torn in two not to say Larsson. I wish I could vote for two. I don't think we'll have a striker of his calibre at Celtic AGAIN in our lifetimes. Maybe in my weens. Whenever people say "What have Celtic ever done or had RECENTLY" since we invoke the name of the Lions so much, I immediately mention Henke. He could have played ANYWHERE.

 

My Da always mentions Danny McGrain when talking about our greatest players, apparently constantly linked with AC Milan throughout his full career but would never entertain it.

I can mind when I was a young Bhoy I was waiting outside Celtic Park for Cadette and Di Canio coming out, Danny quietly made his way through the crowd of weans to his car. My Da grabbed a hold of me and said "Mind the stories I've told you of Danny McGrain? There's the Legend there"

I ran over to him and asked him if he could sign my wee signature book, he said "I will if you can tell me who I am" I said, "You're Danny McGrain, the greatest full back to ever play for us"

He just let out a small chuckle ruffled my hair and signed the book. My Dad took that page out the book as soon as I came back and kept it by his bedside.

 

It's so tough, I've been fortunate enough to watch Henrik, I'm a huge admirer of Cesar and I tend to lean towards defenders as a defender myself, but it just has to be Jinky for me.

True class act as a player and as a man, a real embodiment of what a Celtic player should be.

 

Kennydal, I saw Jinky too, but I voted Henke, now I am thinking to myself, did I vote right ? Jinky always was, and always will be my all time favourite Celt, but then up pops Henke, who I adored too. In all honesty Jinky's my favourite, but you got more consistency out of Henke

 

It just occured to me that in 40 years time we might be saying Neil Lennon Who knows where his journey is going to take us.

Very very hard to choose who would be your favorite Celtic player of all time from the pantheon of legends that have graced the Hoops. My grandad's favorite was Patsy Gallacher, and then there are the Lisbon Lions to a man. I have a soft spot for Lubo. what a player he was.

 

Bobby Lennox, loved the wee man.

Jimmy McGrory the player was way before my time, tho' he was our manager as I grew up in Celtic. His record as a player is peerless.
