  1. Decided against any celtic players or it'd be a celtic XI

    Santiago Canizares

    Javier Zanetti
    Paolo Maldini
    Slaven Bilic
    Roberto Carlos

    Claude Makelele
    Zvonimir Boban
    Daniele De Rossi

    Gabriel Batistuta
    Ole Gunnar Solksjaer
    Francesco Totti

Subs: Peter Schmeichel , Davor Suker, Fabio Cannavaro, Luis Figo, Marcelo Salas

My first WC I can remember really getting into was France 98 when I was 6 or 7 so a lot of my XI are players I remember watching then and had a big part in me falling in love with the game

  2. Schmeichel

    Xavi
    Guardiola - Nedved
    Larsson - Ronaldo - Messi

Bench: Taffarel, Iniesta, Hagi, Batistuta, Scholes, Lahm, Hyppia

  12. Boruc

    Lahm
    Mulgrew
    Puyol

    Naka
    Iniesta
    Riquelme

    Messi
    Ronaldihno

    Totti
    Crespo

    A traditional 3-3-2-2

  13. Without Celtic or US players:

    -------------------Jorge Campos--------------------
    Lahm-------Puyol-----------Cannavaro---Roberto Carlos
    ------------------De Rossi--------------------------
    ------------Zidane--------Iniesta---------------------
    Messi--------------------------------------Ronaldinho
    --------------------Ronaldo---------------------------

Subs: Buffon; Zanetti, Maldini; Xavi, Giggs, Pirlo; Totti
Rest of Squad: Rogério Ceni; Hierro; Davids, Valderrama; Forlán

Based off of guys I like and who I think would be entertaining, hence Jorge Campos starting in goal. :icon_mrgreen:

  16. I just picked players I had soft spots for various reasons or in the case of Viduka and Kewell are the reason I started playing football. Didn't really think about having a sensible formation

    Kahn

    Cafu Maldini Puyol Roberto Carlos

    Keane Seedorf

    Kewell Le Tissier Maloney

    Viduka

Special mention: John Aloisi purely for this

  17. I lived in Australia during Kewell's golden days and developed a real soft spot for him. If I had a "sentimental 11" then he would be in it for sure. That Aloisi penalty was incredible... When I lived there it was during the loss to Uruguay in the playoff before the 2002 World Cup - so to see it given back was priceless.

  18. I remember the loss to Iran in qualifying in 98 when I was really young, that was just as hard to take as the 2002 loss

  19. No Jaap Stam?
