that IF counts for every team. eventually our family trees go to other countries. like I said before, due to mass migration many, many centuries ago there are no real and pure englishmen, swiss or germans. if doesn't matter if they had moved to Switzerland 30 or 3000 years ago.

if you wonder what if they had played for another team, then any other country would look completely different if it's even possible to find enough "pure" players. but as you said, it's irrelevant.

For a big english side it's surely a disgrace to lose against a mickey mouse no name team.

Yeah the 'IF' goes for every team. Its just how we were talking about Switzerland with YB playing the night- thats how I talked about the Swiss specifically. Am not doing them down or anything. I think they've got some decent players these days. It's also applicable to the flip side, I.E, what if players deceided to play for Switzerland as you said. But once again i am not desputing the recognition of certain individuals as 100% Swiss people, i am merely talking about the If's in the instances of certain players.

It is what is now though.

Moving on, I think Spurs will get through. I even think at 3-1 they still had a great chance.

Spurs will go through easily. a 3-0, 4-0 at home will do the trick.

like I said before, most Serbs, Croats and others choose the country of their parents, NOT Switzerland. I would say about 40-50% refuse to play for Switzerland (although most have been capped for a swiss youth side!) and choose the country of their parents. the Americans have similar problems.

what I liked about today is the fact YB had 7.5 swiss players - Spurs had like 2 english players?

Great win for YB, but the dream is still over. Although no one else expected another outcome.

YB played fantastic football last night, especially in the 1st half. However, I can see Spurs win 2-0 home and go to the group stage.

Immortal, mate, could you tell me something more about that Costanzo kid? Is he a Swiss?

Even if spurs get into the group stage, if they play like they did last night they will not get through. They will be like 3rd or 4th seeds anyway

Last night was a hard game for spurs with Young boys 7games into there league season and played in quals so there match fit , Spurs only had pre season and the 1 league game v City , then add in the plastic pitch makes a massive change ,
Taking nothing away from young boys tho they was fantastic on the night .

Moreno Costanzo, 22 years old, just moved from St Gallen to YB this summer. Good kid, could be a real playmaker.

Great game to watch. Young Boys played some good football in that first half hour and just tore Tottenham apart. Even in the second half when Tottenham got on top and were pressing Young Boys still had a few quality chances to make it 4-1. But that late Tottenham goal is a real killer. They still have a chance but now they have to realistically get a draw to advance which will be a tall order. Still good game to watch and great effort by Young Boys and they can at least enjoy winning last nights game.
