You have £6.5 million to spend on either Cameron Carter Vickers or Jota, who do you sign?

Jota.

 

I voted Jota.
But if it came to it, I would prefer that we tied down wee Dembele + Ben Doak, as opposed to Jota.
Not saying that's a choice that would have to be made, just saying..

CCV on the other hand would be hard to replace, unless Ange goes looking or already has someone in mind that he knows he can get.

 

I like Carter-Vickers a lot. He's arguably in his best spell of form just now and is looking like a defender who is feeling really confident. Strong in the air, doesn't really seem to get burned for pace, decent in possession and doesn't (so far, anyway) seem to have a disaster in him like the likes of Boyata/Simunovic were ocassionally prone to.

In Jota's best spell of form he was practically unstoppable. Even when he's had a wee dip recently, he terrifies defenders and still looks a threat when we get the ball to him. He was pretty impressive in the European games as well, and I think that's why he edges it for me.

The positive is that we should be able to afford both in the Summer - especially if we manage to win the League and qualify for the Champions League. You'd hope the fact that they're effectively guaranteed starters here might entice them to stay.

 

Even if we don't manage to sign both or even one of them you can bet your last penny that Ange will have a plan in place now of who he wants. I honestly believe with Ange in charge the dqays of make shift defences are long gone. I'd definitely rather these 2 stayed than take a chance on another player/s

 

Jota.

We look a completely different team when he is on the pitch.

His runs, link up play l, goals and assists have been top notch this season.

We have been crying out for a left winger for years since Sinclair left.

CCV is class I get that but I honestly think it would be harder to replace someone like Jota compared to CCV.

 

The part in bold, we could tie down both Dembele and Doak easy and sign Jota.

Both Doak and Dembele are right wingers and not left like Jota.

 

I'd say it's in the ballpark region. He's a very solid player and I'd love to keep them both. The £6.5m for Jota is a no brainer though. He would immediately be in the £20m plus bracket. His fee is a steal that I'm sure Benfica regret.

 

Loved Ange's comments about these two, Basically don't * us about and make your mind up early in may/June time dont hang about waiting on a better offer or we'll look elsewhere.

Saying that I would love both to stay Ccv has been a rock not much goes by him and jota is a box of tricks who'll only get better next season and would thrive in the ECL groups

 

Love Jota and my HEART would love him to stay more than CCV.

But my HEAD says CCV, Every transfer window we are needing a CB without fail... This man is Colossal at the back and exactly what we need to tie down. Without CCV we have Welsh, Starfelt and a Injury prone Jullien, that's horrific to think about. We have a lot more cover going forward and a far better track record at finding new attackers than defenders.

So CCV for me!

 

Vickers… as much as jotas an extremely talented player, vickers would be harder to replace and also feel it’s more important to have a settled solid central defence. Looking forward to seeing vickers and Julien at the back at some point together

 

Yeah I understand that..
I just don't want our young talent and potentially very good players, being scooped up by the teams down south and abroad.

in anges style goals means more so jota for me . Can unlock tight defences , score , create and will being more profit going forward .

we have seen wingers in years gone by struggle in this league and although he is a collossol Ccv for me would be replaceable. Feel as though we could find a more commandable player in each box for the money being spoken about for vickers (10m+)

 

Lol. Who’s saying that’s the price? I don’t even believe it’ll take the rumoured £6m. Haven’t seen a single reputable source claim it’s that.

There was talk ages back that we had an agreed price, widely reported to be in the region of £3m.

CCV! So key to our successes thus far this season. The player we've been missing. No nonsense colossus.

 

Unfortunately that’s something we can’t stop, by the looks of it and the reports online Doak looks like his head has been turned and the rumours are he is in talks with Liverpool.

Regarding Dembele, I think the club has mismanaged him, Lennon and Co.

Think he was unlucky getting that bad injury at the start of the season cause I’m sure Ange would have given him more game time.

 

Dembele played really well the other night, when he came on as a sub.
I just hope Ange plays him more and reassures him, that he is part of the plan and this is the club for him.
