I am asking this important question because I would like to guage the mood
of the Celtic support on the burning topical issue of the supposed bid of £14 M for McGeady.
I recognise the symbolic position that Aiden holds in all Celtic supporters hearts and minds, however If £14M were forthcoming from the sale of Aiden, then that money could possibly be shrewdly re-invested in helping to make Celtic great once again on the Big Stage.
A simple yes or no would suffice, or if you wish to expand on your opinion with your thoughts and feelings then by all means contribute to the ongoing debate that is all the buzz amongst Celtic supporters
Discuss Would you sell Aiden McGeady for £14M ? in the Celtic Chat area at TalkCeltic.net.

The money that's being paid for average footballers in the EPL, McGeady would be worth more than £14 m. So, No!
Don't think this IS a debate amongst Celtic supporters. There are other issues in Scottish football currently!!! Why focus on an imaginary McGeady move when there are actual issues in other clubs? Cheap, easy, deflecting journalism -
No, we're sound financially and I don't think we'll be forced to sell him. No chance in * we'll sell him on cheap as he has significant time left on his current contract and is our best player. I honestly wouldn't sell him at all, but I think Celtic will meet his demands one day and let him go to EPL as he wants to test himself there. Can't blame him and I'm glad to see him play here.
We should face with reality - he'll leave eventually, as much as we wouldn't want it to happen. So let us enjoy while we can. -
Not in January, however, if those figures were still being suggested in the summer then it would have to be seriously considered.
I don't want us to sell our best players, however, I believe it's inevitable that McGeady will leave us for a better league therefore we have to do what's right for Celtic. At this moment in time McGeady is more important than any possible £14million as in several games this season he's been our only creative influence.
He has obviously worked on his end product as it's improved significantly over last season so his value might even increase if he continues his form for the remainder of the season, although there is always the risk that he gets injured or his form dips and his value goes down.
If we did sell him in the summer then I would expect that money to be re-invested in the team as we still require strengthening in many areas, however, I do not want him sold in January as I believe that would be more of a risk than waiting until the summer. -
other issues can be covered in other threads.
ps dont sell. YET -
nope. dont trust the board to re-invest it into the first team. i would sell him for £14 million if 99% of our attacking flair didnt rest on his shoulders.

I said no because i think aiden is a really exciting player, and he's the one player that gets the fans off our seats!!14 million i'd say was about right for mcgeady maybe more, and that money could come in very useful but if the bhoy wants to stay and become a legend then i'd be a very happy chappy!! :celt_2:

No, for all these reasons.
1: His value will definitely increase as long as he works on parts of his game, which he knows about. (end product)
2: He's by far the SPL's best player, nearly everything we do comes through McGeady - we need him to push for the title.
3: We are not in any money trouble, meaning we do NOT have to sell our best players, unlike the huns.
4: McGeady plays for the shirt, he loves the club - he's one of us, Celtic through and through. This is something money can't buy.
When his value inevitably goes up and we are strapped for cash, then we should CONSIDER selling him, until then - no deal I say. -
If aidan is sold now for 14m only 4m would be re-invested as the other 10m would have to cover the shortfall in champs lge money as we woudnt win the lge.however if 14m was on the table in the summer would bite the hand of the bidder if aidan wanted to go of course!

I wouldn't sell Aiden for double that, £28Million.
It might sound crazy saying that, but he brings that something extra to the team & most of our play comes threw him, he is so crucial to how we play, I think him & Sammy have been superb for us this season & have really stepped up to the plate this year.
The thing that annoys me tho, because we play in Scotland, teams expect us to sell our players for next to nothing. We all know that McGeady is talented, he still has alot to prove & learn I agree, but if he was doing this in the Championship, he would be a £20Million player (easy), & the SPL is a better level than the Championship, so why should Scottish sides be forced into selling there top assets for next to nothing? I know they need the money & thats why they do it, & the Championship gets more money thats why they are able to have stupid prices on there players heads, but tis high way robbery!
Luckily Celtic are in a position where we dont have to sell any of our players if we dont want to, so McGeady wont be sold anyway.
But ye as I said a change of League for Aiden & his valuation would shoot sky high, same as it was when Henrik was playing for us, the English bickering away saying he couldn't do that here, Of course he could! & of course Aiden could, they have the talent, tis already there, just go out & do it.
Getting back to the stupid prices, an example of this Ryan Shawcross at Stoke, they value him at £20Million, thats how much a team would have to pay to get him, cos Liverpool were sniffing around trying to get him, * £20Million!! He isn't even in the * England first team! I know Aiden is a different position from him, but if Stoke can ask for such extortionate prices for there star man, then why should we settle for this £5-8Million pish? I'm sorry but its true!
People can turn around & say Aiden isn't worth anymore than £8Million, but is * Shawcross worth £20Million? Is he *! Thats just the way of football prices now a days & I think if a team wants McGeady, Celtic are in there rights to charge extortionate prices, teams won't be long in backing off & getting the message.
Anyway I hope we keep him for another few seasons, great player & very exciting to watch. -

Not a * chance :38:
What the doubters don't seem to get is this young guy does things with a football that some other footballers that are deemed as 'word class' can't.
Barca and Milan are among the teams that have had 2 players on him whenever he gets the ball, and I have personally watched him roast Puyol and Oddo with my own eyes.
Mark my words, he will eventually have enough of the * he gets from his own fans and be sold on, and a lot of fans will be so sorry.
Hail Hail wee man :50: -
30stm87 & Rossenspeil - I agree with every word, good posts:50:.
Fans who would sell him now will realise just how special a talent he actually is when he's gone.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 16, 2010 -

I personally dont think he is a £15 million player. I also think he will struggle in the premiership and the inflated price tag wont help him one bit. He would be back in the hoops within a year or 2 of his move just like Maloney and like Ferguson at the huns.

Ferguson - Please watch Birminhamsnext game against one of the top four, Ferguson is more than holding is on against world class teams. -

I don't think he should be sold best player we have at the moment, and even if we did sell him the board wouldn't use even half that on transfers coming into the club..
