Everyone keeps raving about Hinkel getting forward and being better than Wilson doing so, his FIRST priority is defending and he cant do it! then when he gets forward, he gets an assist here and there but his general distribution is atrocious! he will no doubt be a weak point tomorrow night if playing!

Wilson in brillaint at tackling. Hinkel is not.
Hinkel is good at getting forward and crossing. Wilson is not.

I do like Wilson as a player. Although we have not won since Hinkel has been out, look how few attacks progress down his flank, keeping opposition players quiet, as well as noticing how often he has had to clean up after the centre halve's errors or poor positioning. It is unfortunate that his time has been blighted by injuries, however he still has much to offer. Additionally, although his natural position is on the right, is able to do an adequate job on the left, providing cover for both fullback roles.

Hinkel is better on the ball, and strength lies in what he brings to the team, in terms of going forward, overlapping and delivery into the box. He is a decent defender, though there is not a huge difference between the two in that department, and if anything, Wilson shades it.

Overall, Hinkel is the superior player, and unquestionably should be 1st choice but when Wilson's name appears on the teamsheet it is not one that causes much in the way of concern, because I'm confident that he will do a job defensively. However, if Mowbray were to look for a more attacking option when Hinkel is unavailable, Caddis is the man.

I think we have a really unfortunate scenario at right back. Hinkel is our first team rb, no question. Going forward he is great, his defending unfortunately isnt as good as Wilson or Caddis' for that matter. Wilson and Caddis are both great cover, Wilson has the defensive side covered, caddis, the attacking.
If we could mix our 3 rb's together we would have and awesome RB :)
Anyway right back at celtic is certainly not an area in which to worry!

Wison has put in a solid shift since Hinkel went down. But for me Hinkel is so key to our team with so many of our goals coming from his crossing ability that no question he starts for me if fit.

I'm a little unsure between the two for the Hamburg game?? in my opinion I prefer Hinkle over wilson but for the purpose of Thursday's game i would stick with Wilson my reason it's an important game, we need to hit the ground running come kick off on Thursday so for that reason and that reason only i would start with Wilson, if Hinkle were to get a starting place i think we could be in trouble giving that he has been out for a few weeks lacking in a little sharpness and with the likes of Eljero Elia who has electric pace we could be found wanting down the right side

100% agreed here :50: Attacking is be a bonus with defending being the priority! I actually prefer Hinkel as a player but when i think about it like that I think that Wilson has a gd shout for the RB position, he's a better defender than Hinkel!

Hinkel is the better player but Wilson is not a bad replacement to have

Hinkel is better than Wilson in my opinion. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he have the second highest amount of assists for the team last season? He's a consistent player for us and considering the £2million-odd that we paid for him, I think we've got good value for money. Another thing he deserves a bit of praise for is that I've never read stories about him being out drunk, or falling out with team mates. Seems like a model professional to me.

Yes that's true but his first priority is to defend and he's not very good at that IMO! Don't get me wrong, I do prefer him to Wilson but he's a defender, not an attacking midfielder!

Im not sure but don't think Mogga gives out jerseys to people as a reward for not being in the media for being drunk etc!

We play with attacking full backs, supporting the midfield is very important

I wouldn't have said that Danny Fox is very attacking but that's just my opinion! I don't think he can run with the ball whatsoever, he looks very awkward!

He's not the greatest dribbler but he does make forward runs to receive the ball high up the field and either waits for the winger to make space for himself, get the ball back and attack the goal or go wide for a cross. He's no Fabio Grosso alright! :icon_mrgreen:

Wilson has no pace, no attacking threat and doesn't defend very well. Not very strong either. He did alright for a while when he first joined but we need a higher standard of player if we are to improve.

    No contest for me

    Hinkel by a mile

Wilson has done well in the last couple of games but has had too many nightmares in the past, 4-2 huns defeat last year particularly sticks in mind.

Personally, I'm just well pleased we've got a quality right back, a quality left back, and decent cover for both positions.

I can't even remember the last time I could say that.

We really need to appreciate what we've got when we've got it. :50:

There's no compitition Wilson is one of these players who played really well at Dundee utd but once there at Celtic park there not so good. Hinkel is just as good as anyone at going forward in Celtic but I admit he does lack a bit defending but it doesn't show unless he's playin agianst quality wingers( not very many if any in spl) so I think hinkel is
    defo first choice
