Aye did we. Anyhow the article was in The Mail on Sunday, and mainly because the guy has a funny name their's banter on the footie forums everywhere.

It just really says that we want a loan deal, with an option to buy. Auxerre want to cash in on him, always a worry. He's a tall guy with bags of pace.

The only footage of him on youtube is Eden Hazard ripping him a new * and winning a penalty.

He had a couple of stand out games against PSG and St Etienne, Liverpool and Inter Milan were looking at him in January and were told they'd have to stump up £5 million in the Summer.

But with Auxerre going down to Ligue 2 i guess he goes for less. It looks as though even the Premiership clubs baulked at the 5 million pound asking price.

It's a sign of the times, a defender from a demoted team being quoted at £5 million.

How much do you think we'd be willibg to pay, if we have " initiated talks"? Wouldn't go over 3 million. Personally hoping for a years loan with first option to buy for a pre-agreed fee.

Anyone else think McDonald Mariga Wanyama would be a good buy? Would only cost us about £6M because he's only a bench warmer at Inter and is loaned out just now.

Sounds alot of money for a club like celtic but I think we'd be guarenteed to get at least our money back. Plus he's tried to get a move to the Premiership twice but both times the transfers collapsed because to visa issues. I think he'd be willing to move to Celtic to try and get a move the the EPL.. plus Victors here so we would settle well.

Wages might be an issue mind.. not sure how much he would be on.

Why would we spend £6 million on anyone, never mind ANOTHER midfielder. Sorry but the suggestion is mental:56:

Guess your right ha.. not really needed.

Don't think it's as mental as you think though, he'd boss the SPL and would probably be in the EPL after a season. Would be a money maker.

Standard of player we should be looking at to hold our own in the Champions league.
    Imagine playing against two Wanyama's. I'd * myself. :icon_mrgreen:

    EDIT:

Sorry folks thought I was in the player suggestion thread, didn't mean to post in this thread :S

I have no idea how much we'd get him for, and i havny seen him play, so it's impossible to say. But bearing in mind his team got demoted, meaning their defense was shocking, it's got dodgy written all over it.

I guess if Inter Milan or Liverpool looked at your best player you'd over price his valuation. For £5million, i'd want a defender that had finished at least half way up the league for that. The prices getting banded about are shocking.

I doubt we'll pay over 1.5 million for a defender, going on the limited information we have, we clearly don't want to pay a transfer fee. We'll be saying to them, well if you get promoted, you get your player back.

Where a team has finished has no bearing on the ability of a single player within that team.

Of course it doesn't, unless you are a defender and the defense has been leaking goals for fun.

Still has no bearing, 1 good defender out of 5 isn't going to do much good.

Gimme strength, they play a back four. It takes some doing to get demoted from the French Ligue1, he's had a couple of good games and some very dodgy games.

Here's one from a few weeks ago:

Or rather a back three, maybe in a back four he'd be better, but the guy from the Israeli league looked a lot better in the air.

Aye and he scored a header too. Glad we passed up on that one. I'd pass on Boly too, at least not on anything other than a loan.

1 goalkeeper, 4 defenders. Goalkeepers part of the defence.

I've not seen him play, I'm just saying you can't judge a player by where his team finished. I mean West Ham nearly got relegated with Carlos Tevez and Mascherano in there team.
