    Let the people sing,
Bottom line is that Celtic has always had people holding them back thats why they were allowed to acheive nine-in-a-row. It just shouldn't have happenned but we had absolute clowns running our club and they downsized after the centenary season and let it happen. Their past 3 titles are along similar line and might not have happenned if January 2009 had been different. The two titles MON lost where down to a point and a goal. If we had a bit more luck you could easily knock off 5-12 titles from them in the direction of us.

But i honestly don't care about who has been champions of one of the worst football leagues in history more times. (And thats what it is really, one of the first founded but with every passing year other countries are improving while we have been static since what feels like the DAWN OF TIME:56:.)

What I care about is the one that we had before any other club in Br*tain had. The big one.

    ONE STAR MEANS MORE.:shamrock:

    Founded in 1873, we were founded 1888. 1888-1873 = 15.

They are 15 possible titles ahead of us before we have even kicked a ball.

    Rangers titles won = 54
    Celtic titles won = 42

    54 - 42 = 12

    15-12 = 3

We win by 3 titles. Suck on that Rangers!!

Seriously though, over the course of time i think it will even itself out.

As long as this board continue to spend coppers from their 'Biscuit Tin' every transfer window, the answer to your question is - NAE CHANCE !!!!

I think celtic are going to go on a run of league wins in the next few years....keep lennon and keep fat sally at hunvill and we should get 4/5 in a row.
We can easly over take them lot.

I can't believe know one has mentioned this yet... But before the 60s I am sure Celtic had only won the league once and then big jock arrived. Considering we have caught up a lot in those 50 years. Correct me if I am wong... But I am sure we only had won it once before the 60s?

Yes, we will overhaul them eventually.

Rangers are closed and inward-looking in their mentality, essentially a club of the past - whereas we are open and inclusive, fundamentally better-suited to the global environment which football is headed into. We are the club of the present, and of the future.

They were once way ahead of us in league titles, but we have been catching them up gradually ever since the 60s - and that's despite the anomaly of their 9-in-a-row, when they essentially bought a decade of titles with money they didn't have. And still don't have: they are paying for that profligacy now, and will continue to pay for some time to come.

It´s not impossible. I don´t care for the fact that they have more titles than us, I just take each season as it comes and always look forward to beating those * when possible.

We only won the league once in the post-WWII era, before Jock Stein was manager, but we did pretty well in the 50 years before the war, under Willie Maley - you may want to look him up... if you know your history,

That's true, but the annoying thing is why was Jimmy McGrory allowed to remain manager for so long? Surely 1 league title in 20 years as manager should have merited a sacking? I remember reading somewhere though Mcgrory was the board's puppet as they picked the team, and when Jock Stein came he made sure he had full control in team selection.

All their 54 world record breaking titles go to show that the Scottish league is no the greatest in the world. Between the two of us since the formation of the league 120 years ago it has been won 96 times. I bet other countries look at rankers and fall aboot laughing when they spout their rubbish. They also don't make it onto quiz shows like pointless the other night: "there are only six teams that have ever done the treble. european cup and domestic treble". Yip Celtic were there!

I think we will catch them, but not by winning 12IAR, I can't see that ever happening. If we can restore the team to the dominant force we had under MON/WGS, then we'll slowly catch up. For the first 8 years of the 2000s we won 6 titles and lost 2 on GD and by a single point, while all bar 1 of those which we won were landslides. If we get back to that level of dominance then I'd say we could win 3 titles for every 1 hun title, meaning we'd catch up in about 30 years.

If Rangers lose their tax case, we'll catch up without too many problems...

I agree mate, love the positivity!

If Lenny stays for a long time and has decent squad during that time, I don't see why not!

That's why Man Utd have been so successful down south, same manager, and same core of good players playing year after year after year together.

All we need is a bit of stability and I think we will get that now. :celt_2:
