Mowbray got £3.8million to buy a mars bar, bought one from aldi and gave them a huge tip.

There have been a series of threads over the past month or so that has appeared on this same subject, and the answer is inevitably the same. There will not be much in the way of movement, the odd fringe player sold or sent on loan, and if very lucky, maybe 1-2 first team players, but not more. Anyone who thinks there will be wholesale changes need to stop playing Xbox.

Additional - Even a cursory examination of Celtic's track record of dealings in January will reveal that we reserve most of our transfer business during the summer. Couple with this, the comments that came out during the recent AGM, will further prove this point.

Maybe the Scottish press could do us a favour and name and shame those 2 and maybe the Celtic board will be shamed into giving the manager money for replacements ,but somehow i doubt it.

The board will have to make money available in January, I think even they must remember the mistakes made during January 2009. A repeat performance by the board will not be tolerated by the season ticket holders, spend or face the wrath come June 2010.

Even if the board sanction the funds we desperately need we still have the problem of actually attracting players to the SPL :54:

Precisely. The real world is slightly more complicated than an Xbox game

It takes more than PL to convince a player that the SPL is a good move for them.

    Money
    Career advancement
    Training facilities
    Coaches
    Manager

all of these can have an impact on a players decision to move no matter what the chief executive might say to them.

I would say it's just as much the managers job to convince a potential signing that the SPL will be a good move for them.

i beleive we will spend, i can only summise that we might have possibly 2 new players at the most, i also think that they will be no name brand players which is why we wont spend alot.
and everyone calling for a massive clear out will most likely end up disapointed
we can only wait and see what unfolds

on the other hand, i can see the huns being bought out by then and a little cash for new players put aside our spending will be balanced accordingly if this happens

yes...ok...you're so contrary...i was making the point that the ceo is way, way overpaid. on that kind of salary i'd want him to convince torres that the spl was a step up for him...

I think it is pretty important that we do spend in January. Mogga will now have a clearer idea of who is in his plans and who is not.

But whether the board sanction the funds or not is another story all together. It would be criminal if they did not but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they kept the biscuit tin tightened securely throughout January just like they did last January (something that was a major factor is the losing of the league imo) Put it this way - If they do not spend then the apathy amongst the support will only grow and more people will vote with their feet and stay away.

We will buy players I believe - already got Ki Sung coming for 2million by all accounts.

I think we'll be selling, which will bump up the kitty somewhat.

    McManus - ipswich - 1.5millions
    Caldwell - Newcastle - 500k
    Robson - Middlesburgh - 1.5millions

Thats 3.5 millions for 3 * players who we are better off without.

N'Guemo is 1.5millions apparantly - I'd buy him. O'Dea should be back in Jan.

That leaves us down a CB & we still have 2millions to get one - the guy from Iceland (?) or Scandanavia (don't know name) might be a shout & someone said Gonclaves earlier, who is better than Mick.

So, yes I think we will spend in Jan - but we'll be selling 1st I reckon & that's a good thing IMO.
