I disagree on Stokes but I'm not going to start with that.

Leigh strikes me as someone who will be happy to stay here for as long as he can, Wanyama, Van Dijk and Forster forced moves. Can you see Griffiths doing the same?

Kris Boyd was a chance converter, at SPFL level and nothing more.

Leigh Griffiths converts chances, creates chances, runs the channels, scores goals from inside and outside the box and the thing he really lacks (link and hold up play) he is getting better at. All at domestic and now European level, from the limited opportunities he has had there thus far.

There is no comparison to be made between Boyd and Griffiths.

Forcing a move nah I don't see it, what my worry would be that if he fulfills his expectation that we all have of him more so since he's shown the willingness to fight for and spot and improve (something of which I think none of us expected of him) that some dumb English club like another Norwich, bottom tier of premier league/top tier of championship come in and say "oi Pete your man there Leigh, how's £5mill sound for him?"

And is our board who force the move on him which in turn could make him feel un wanted and un appreciated and actually move.

It's sad honestly think of someone like Leigh can continue going the way he is going he could off before fans really see and appreciate how valuable he was.

Kris Boyd scored some cracking free kicks, scored plenty from outside the box as well. Not sure on other parts of his game, never paid much attention to there games.

And was better than Larsson, may I also add

You're missing the point anyway. This whole thread seemed to take off after some skewed statistics were posted. My point is, statistics only show part of a players game.

The thread title should be changed to overrated going by the posts in here.

Nobody is denying he's a good goalscorer. Just pointing out he still has plenty of improving to do before he becomes a more complete lone striker.

Think my earlier post may have been misunderstood. Glad he's here, glad he's starting, and can't fault his work rate or attitude.

However if having him as our top striker is the hight of our ambitions, then we should forget about not only the CL, but give the Europa a miss aswell and ask Uefa to bring back the Intertoto

Why? What difference does it make if it's Leigh Griffiths scoring our goals or Lee Van Griffinho?

He is scoring goals domestically and now at a decent level in Europe. Can we not just * enjoy it?

We can, I still hope Ciftci can make the step up as a different option as well though.

Griffiths is the better footballer than Fat Boyd. Even if Leigh couldn't pass 3m and scored 40 goals a season, I'd be happy.

Let's face the truth.. a goal scoring machine with decent football skills is hard to come by. We have a limited budget and play in a not so sexy league. Hard to attract somebody à la Robert Lewandowski.

    I'm fine with Griffiths.

As mental as it sounds I think part of it is cause he's so ugly lol. He's a right wee average joe. Larsson could play James Bond the * was that cool.

Just reading through the last pages and it's laughable.

So apparently he doesn't get the credit he should because 'he doesn't have a fancy foreign name' and because 'he's a bit weird looking'. It's incredible, honestly.

People churn out that first 'excuse' whenever a Scottish player in our team gets criticised. When you'll find that pretty much everyone loves seeing Scots flourish at our club. In a perfect world we would be full of Scottish, Celtic fans who are on the same level as the foreigners we've had recently i.e. Wanyama, van Dijk, Hooper (only English but the point stands) etc.

Sick of saying it but some people can't seem to understand the point a few of us are making. We love that Griffiths is banging them in and fair play to the guy, he's making the most of his talent at the moment. However, he's very limited and not a great finisher. Therefore when we need our striker to be able to hold the ball up or get us up the pitch, Griffiths doesn't offer much. And due to the fact he is wasteful, he usually misses a decent number of chances in most games. Now I'm not expecting him to score with every opportunity he gets but he misses far too many good chances.

He's a great option to have because he scores plenty domestically but we could be doing with a striker who suits our system and can both score goals and create them for others/hold the ball etc.

We're not slagging off Griffiths or saying he's pish, but in the grand scheme of things he isn't the answer.

The thing is, I think we've seen enough of him to know that if he keeps working on those things he isn't good at, he can be the answer.

Have they forced broony to go....im sure there has been clubs sniffing over the years.
Griff has been down south and i don't see him or the club forcing any move.

He has done the absolute maximum that could be expected of him so far. He has scored goals at every level. People who cant see this are clowns. He is a top player.

See if he scores 35+ goals this season including 3/4 in the EL groups will you still be saying he isn't the answer?

What else is a Celtic striker supposed to do?
