Why dont we just to set the cat amongst the pigeons, set up a Newco and apply to join the SPL?
All we'd need to do is start a New Company, call them Celtic 2 for example, allow them joint access to Celtic Park as a Ground share, sell them our Reserves/back-ups a few under 19s and then they could aquire a few new players to make up a Squad for them and have Celtic 2 playing in the SPL.
Although this sounds mental, it could happen and would have as much right as the New Rangers to join the SPL. Celtic 2 could be up an running even quicker than the New Rangers and with the Celtic 2 playing in a bigger Stadium and already having a Manager(Kennedy for example) and players(Towell, O'Dea, McCourt, McGinn, Thompson, Kidd, Chalmers, Fraser etc) would surely hold favour over New Rangers to get the SPL share? as Newco Rangers dont even have a player. :celt_2:
Imagine Celtic winning the League and Celtic 2 the Runners up, who knows Celtic may even have a great relationship with this New Glasgow Club and could loan them promising youngsters ever year :86:
Celtic 2 would have no connections at all to Celtic so there could be no claims of anything against them :50: would just be sheer coincidence that Celtic 2 were full of ex-Celtic people, playing at the same Stadium at Celtic, wearing very similar kits to Celtic with a similar badge to Celtic and a similar name.

One to many beers lol

In theory it is a good idea but I imagine in practise it would be like in the spanish leagues where Barcelona aren't allowed to play in the same league as Barcelna B for example. I do however think there should be a Celtic B in a lower league of a restructured format similar to in spain. It would also help boost the number of competative teams in an 'SPL2'.

I'd like us to do this if the newco gets parachuted into the SPL. In fact I'd like all clubs across Scotland to start making noises about creating newcos and expecting them to be put back in the SPL. The game's a bogey if The Rangers are allowed to jump ahead of teams who have been slugging it out in the lower divisions for years, so why not create a bit of chaos. You know the thing about chaos, it's fair. :50:

Celtic 2 would be a stand alone Club who just happen to be really similar to Celtic and would have a good relationship with Celtic :50: nothing could be done about it and it would be no different to any other Newco Clubs or New Clubs.
They would have equal rights to apply for the SPL share as New Rangers have and equal rights to apply for the SFL as a New Rangers.
It would be interesting to see what New Club would be favoured :icon_mrgreen: if One was favoured over another to be allowed into the Scottish Football pyramid system it would show severe bias.Last edited by a moderator: Jun 16, 2012 -

Danny McGrain is given Celtic 2 Company/Club for £1. He then appoints John Kennedy as Manager and Stevie Frail as CEO. They happen to sign for example: O'Dea, McGinn any players they want but we would sell them players for free. they could sign anyone at all, even sign some ex Rangers players and John Carew.
Then they apply for the spare SPL share the same as the New Rangers.
Both New Club would be the exact same and either both or neither would have to be let into Scottish Football as it would be bias to favour one over the other :50:
The benefits for us would be we could have a really good relationship with them and could loan them out young players to get SPL experience.
It would essentially be Celtic's Reserves but they would be set up as a New Club to take the place of Rangers, they could Groundshare with us. They would have as much right as anyone to apply for the share, especially the New Rangers who are brand new too.Last edited by a moderator: Jun 16, 2012 -
LOL this would be too funy, but please no.
I would actually die of laughter, this past year since February has just been a comedy circus and I don't think I can take any more! -
I saw a few people talking about something like this only they thought that we should move to a different league such as the EPL and keep a team in the SPL and use it for our younger and fringe players
-
Why don't we do this as it is a good idea but have the grace to apply to go into the 3rd division and start from there :50:
-
Whilst not the same, a Celtic B side in the lower leagues would provide great experience for our younger players. I imagine a good amount of supporters would watch them home and away too.
-
reckon i might try this on football manager....:50:
real life...maybe not...but top marks for the idea though... -
another thing to take in to account is the fans, less people will be turning up to games etc..

As because both Clubs would be similar and brand new. The Clubs would never vote for one over the other which would mean neither of them would get in, then if they both applied to the SFL again the same would happen, they would never turn down a team called Celtic 2 for New Rangers because it would look biased again, they couldnt come out with "But theres already a Celtic" because technically the New Celtic wouldnt be anything to do with the Current Celtic. Like New Rangers it would just be a New Club.
It would probably end in a team being promoted from where the likes of Annan etc came from. -

Only problem would be is that you must own your own stadium

We could surely afford a little stand at barrowfield and it would still match most third division grounds. -

maybe they could apply to the conference league & work their way up there..

Great Idea, FC Celtic, ground share with Celtic, £8 pay on the gate, all celtic fans who cant afford the £30+ would turn up,
-
ask the sfa for help get the ground share with QPR, then you would see if there is any fair play. then if refused go to court. end game for the SFA even threat that if rangers get in we will want a second team in also.
