I've got family in Corby, dirty hun * who I have never met right enough.

Sure they don't go to school in Cumbernauld ? Only one high school in Kilsyth and it's not catholic. Most catholics from Kilsyth go to St Maurice's.

    Good thread this...

Funny one really as the Glaswegian accent does travel quite far in distance compared to accents around the rest of the uk..

Spot on about corby,a lot of Scottish there and Irish aswell and loads of tims..

I think its because its a copied accent. No one used to sound Glaswegian in places like Kilmarnock, but now they do. I once met a guy from Patna, (even deeper down in Ayrshire) and he spoke with a weegie accent too. Its just being copied by people wanting to associate themselves with it when theres absoloutley no logical reason that they should speak like that. Cumbernauld might get away with the Glasgow overspill, but plenty of overspill arrived in Bonnybridge and Denny (just along the road) and no one speaks like that. Its not that the accent is a bad thing, its just annoying that people try to be Glasgweigan when they are not. Cumbernauld is the one that annoys me most, but you also have along the M8 in places like Shotts, where they speak weegie, then a few mile along the road in Whitburn they speak with a Falkirk accent. Shotts is * miles from Glasgow too and theres no reason for them to speak like that. Explain yourselves!!!!
