Who's a better footballer - Aiden McGeady or Steven Davis?

In every sense of the words, you are comparing Apples and Oranges

 

I find them both one dimensional in their own rights, Davis is the better passer and has better end product and seems to be more direct. Aiden has more potential to be the better player by a considerable distance, he has better skills with the ball, hes alot faster and has more imagination.

I wish Brown was a bit more like Davis, not McGeady.

It's interesting you saying that because I see it the other way around. I think Aiden rarely does anything at European level and would get found out instantly if he ever went to the Premiership. Davis on the other hand would have enough game intelligence to play at that level. He wouldn't be a superstar or anything but he'd hold his own.

I like players like Davis who are consistent and have good game intelligence. When Davis plays wide for Rangers he does all the simple things like not giving the ball away, getting into the box, putting nice passses through etc which is really all you need your wide men to be doing. Aiden on the other hand keeps doing his 'check me I'm the new Jinky' impression then putting bad crosses over. I just get frustrated with that. Don't get me wrong, Aiden is good and can do things that Davis will never be capable of but Davis is really more my kind of player I'd have to admit.

at the moment samy davis is better than mc geady. mc geady doesnt do enough, and he has been shown up in europe and at international level. hugely over rated.

 

Daivs plays well every other OF game and maybe against the likes of St Johnstone.

Can't believe people are comparing Davis to MCGeady...McGeady is miles better and with more potential to improve.

 

atm steven davis is a more productive footballer. I think Aiden is more talented and can very easily be better when on song. He is in a rough patch now as all players have until they retire and fans get nostalgic, then they've never had a bad game in their life.

 

I have to agree mate he is similar to Aiden in that they go missing in slot of the big games.the media got it right last season when ignoring him for player of the year.just cos he is a stand out in a * rangers team doesn't mean he is good.plus the fact there weren't any bids for him when every one knows the ness the Huns are in answers the original question - def aiden

 

At the moment? McGeady hasn't performed for over a month, since the Rangers game!

 

Have to agree I believe McGeady would get found out in the Premiership and well he's not a first pick and probably not even a second pick for Rep of Ireland anymore! I also prefer players with game intelligence and that includes when you don't have the ball (McGeady is very very static for me) and for this reason i think Davis is a better all round and more effective player (just looks at his assists compared to Aidan's) and he can also defend! McGeady * about with the ball more often than not which Davis doesn't and I think Davis is a more direct player! Game intelligence is the exact same reason that I think Maloney is a better all round player than McGeady aswell, although i know alot of people disagree which is fair enough, we all have opinions ! In terms of dribbling and beating a man McGeady wins everytime but football is about being effective and in my opinion Davis is more productive!

 

two different types of players. Davis is poor when played as a winger but good in the centre. aiden is an excellent winger but lacks the game intelligence to play in the centre. So to answer the question i would say aiden because he is not a horrible hun *!!

 

Davis is the better complete player , Aiden is more skilfull but needs to improve on his crossing and finishing .

One has an end product, the other doesn't, you decide.

But for me, it's Davis at the moment.

He'll never have the skill and craft McGeady has and McGeady will learn to get a better end product and will be a better player, but at this moment in time, in terms of end product and being closer to a complete player, Davis is better.

What McGeady has, Davis will never learn.

What Davis has is easily learned.

 

Really? He's been trying for about 6 years and has never really improved it!

 

based on form and what they do for their team how can you realisticly say mcgeady is better than davis? davis is a quality player. mcgeady is a joke
