It'll be a sad day when Forster leaves Celtic, his performances particularly in Europe have been extraordinary.

I would throw some of that 60 million we made and give the guy a new contract,if he gets a engurland call up he may thing well why not stay here cause its * awesome. He keeps us in a lot of games.

I'm not even going to bother arguing because if you're from Geneva you obviously know a lot more about Swiss football than me but every time I've seen him he's been impressive.

 

it's nothing against you mate, but sommer's really not lived up to his potential and he's extremely arrogant.. infact last season he was only impressive in europa league. better swiss keeper is roman burki from grasshoper

 

Nearly all goalkeepers are good shot stoppers, other wise they wouldn't be playing in goal.

Fraser Forster is probably one of the best shot stoppers i've seen at Celtic Park to be fair, but he causes a lot of problems for the defense as well. A few of his saves also come from situations that could have been avoided if he had dealt with them when he should have done.

He's been quite lucky at times that nothing has come from his mistakes and the defense has bailed him out numerous times. A couple of examples from this season would be the Karagandy game where they hit the bar, the Barca game where they hit in a free kick from his right hand side of the box and he flapped at it and it just went wide, in the Ajax game where he should have came out but didn't and forced Kayal in to a world class goal saving tackle. It's the same in league games as well, he just cannot deal with balls in to the box and he is too slow off his line.

There's no denying he's an unbelievable shot stopper, but in terms of being a great goalkeeper or world class he is not. No great goalkeepers are just great shot stoppers.

 

I hear moses batunfanta (sp?) makes an equally good keeper.

Yer man Williams of Hibs could do a job domestically. But he's 31 now and not sure whether he would cut it in Europe.

It'll be nearly impossible to properly replace Forster on our budget.

 

Are you per chance from Slovenia or just follow Benfica/Portuguese football? If not, where did you hear about Oblak?

He's going to be a great goalkpeeper, already is if you ask me, I just don't know what's his status with Benfica this year, he only played one game in the Cup if I remember correctly. But he was very good on loan at Rio Ave last year where he was the first choice keeper and helped them to the 6th position and also when filling in for Samir Handanović as Slovenia's No. 1 when the latter was injured.
