I doubt he will come good but i think sending him on loan to another SPL club might really help him find his feet - he lacks confidence severely. And if not, pap him in the following window.

Even if the guy was a decent striker and no more, like Stokes for example, then I wouldn't want him as a regular for Celtic but Bangura is AWFUL. I don't like to judge people early on in their Celtic career but this guy has absolutely nothing and is a poor poor poor mans' Fortune. He will never make it here, at best he's a 4th choice striker and * I hope we buy a quality striker now that Stokes might be out for a while. £2.0million down the drain, next.

It's interesting that a lot of the duds that Lenny has bought actually cost a few bob.

Just goes to show that money doesn't equate success.

After following him quite much in the swedish league i was happy when he signed. Because he really bossed the game over here, but he has been a disaster so far for us.

Seems strange to bring this up after today. I thought he was ok today. Never got on the end of any opportunities but was holding the ball up and spraying passes around well. Got to say that I think he was better than Hooper today.

Thought he played really well today. Closed down well, held the ball, won a few in the air.
He didn't do anything wrong today, and if it wasn't for a decent bit of defending from a cross he could have scored.

He played well today I thought.

Just because he had a bad last season it doesn't mean he will still continue to be bad, look at Samaras, he was terrible for a season then all of a sudden the next one he became one of our best players and he has continued that into this pre-season. I'm not saying Bangura will have such a good turn around but it is possible.

Samaras always had talent despite his frustrating performances in his early Celtic career, Bangura appears to be as talented as Paddy McGuinness is funny.

Sammy was actually amazing for 6 months, terrible for 2 years (bar the odd world class performance) then Lenny has managed to get some consistency out of him.

I'm not saying Bangura wont come good but there is no way you can compare him to Sammy.

I'm only comparing him with Samaras in how Lennon managed to turn him around from being terrible to being great. I don't expect him to be as successful with Bangura but we shouldn't write off Bangura.

Problem with him is he doesnt really look like a natural striker. He would be OK for someone like Dundee United or Hibs as a wide striker etc but he just doesnt look like a striker or a Celtic level player.

The scary thing is that I couldn't even guarantee that Bangura would be a success if playing in the Scottish 1st Division, I just think that it's a combination of not being good enough, failure to adapt to Scottish football, weight of expectation etc etc that will ensure Bangura will end up as one of our worst ever purchases but I'm happy to be proved wrong. :50:

Sammy had had great patches in the past throught his career in Holland and with us (he was vital in 3 in a row and had a couple of great scoring runs early season later. His problem was massive inconsistency and confidence but at his best he is a fantastic player and way above SPL standard. Bangura for me has never shown a hint of being a quality player. No comparison IMO.

People keep saying he just needs one goal and then he will bang them in, his scoring record in sweden 13 in 33 appearances, if I'm honest 15 appearances off the bench or not is quite enough opportunities to prove yourself

I hate to keep making this observation but how many minutes has Bangura had for Celtic?

It can't amount to much more than 6 full games.

That is not not long enough to judge him one way or the other.

It doesn't look good I'll grant you but you never know. He is a guy very short on confidence right now.

Hopefully 'I Love the Celtic' will be along soon with his stats and game time :50:

Yeah Samaras at his best could easily compete in any league, probably should have said a bad season instead of playing terrible because as you said he did have a few great patches such as his 2 goals in the old firm match.

Just hoping that Lennon can get consistency and goals out of Bangura like he got more constancy out of Samaras.
