The coming weeks and months will be interesting as it should confirm just how much control Nicholson has as CEO.

Because if it starts looking like we fall into old habits then I will start believing that Peter Lawwell is exerting a level a control that is outside his remit as Chairman and is undermining our current CEO.

No one has a clue how good or bad some of these names will be. If Maresca was that pish then he wouldn't have us, Leicester and Southampton wanting him after going back to City under Pep..

I'd definitely take Iraola. Done well on a relatively small budget and plays a good attacking style of football. Beaten both Real Madrid and Barcelona as well this season.

What nobody’s even really mentioning is there’s going to be some amount of top managers desperate to work in England that are going to start applying here because of the jobs Rodgers and Postecoglou have got off the back of the job here.

But Lawwell boasting about not even looking at applicants when Rodgers left cos we had Lennon is always going to make people wary of what actual due diligence is done.

If we play it right over the next few appointments we could absolutely become the top shop window for people wanting to get to England ahead of Portugal, Holland or Salzburg but I won’t get my hopes up. Consistently getting top managers will entice an ever better standard of players and raise the value of everything at the club.
