Breeders are trying to take advantage of lockdown and pushing their prices up and if people pay them the prices will just remain high.

Go to the Kennel Club website and you’ll find contact details of assured breeders there. Almost no chance of a scam going through those breeders, because scams in the puppy industry are common.

My niece paid frickin £2,000 on Thursday for an American Pitbull. That is brutal for a dog. I paid £250 for my full breed Yorkie albeit 10 years ago. You could buy an actual baby much cheaper in Africa.

Many reputable breeders haven't been breeding during the lockdown.

The prices are outrageous at the moment. I can't see prices staying high when reputable breeders start back. I've already noticed a lot of puppies back up for sale as people's circumstances go back to normal. There's going to be a lot of poor dogs unwanted after the lockdown.

I have noticed a lot of adverts trying to sell dogs at today's prices. Owners are trying to sell puppies long before they are even born. I've also noticed more puppies not being added the the KC register with their parents. Clearly they having too many litters trying to cash in on the silly prices.

I remember a while back you were talking about dogs wearing a Harness or not. I have always been wary of them, probably because of fake or sub standard ones out there.
Anyway the other Friday I finally took the plunge and a good one from Pets At Home and we both have never looked backed since. It makes it so much easier for both of us on our lead only walks.:50:

I had a wee 15 year old westie called Saoirse. She was put to sleep yesterday. 1 month shy of her 16th birthday.

Ive two kids in the house 11 and 9. Even though she wasnt well the last 6 weeks in particular. Its still a shock, and we are heart broken.

Crazy to think, she was part of our lives every single day, bringing calm and love into the house, and now shes gone.

Im not afraid to admit ive shed many a tear in the last 24 hours.

But guys cheerish all your moments with your dogs.
What id give now to bring her back and spend just a bit more time with her.

Really sorry to hear this Cool Bhoy,I know the heartache and sadness that you and your family are going through. It is horrible.
But nothing, nothing can take away all the countless loving memories and she had a long life full of complete love.

    Thank you.

100% - we were as lucky to get her as she was to get us.

Even though she was that sick in the end, it was still hard to make the call on her. But it wasnt fair on her.

Still doesnt make it any easier, to a certain extent i feel guity.

Im no stranger to grief, i lost my sister 3 weeks before i got married. But this ripped my heart out again.

Really sorry to hear this, mate. They really are part of the family. I'm terrified of when the day comes with my pup. As has been said I'm sure she felt incredibly loved.

Sad news mate, unfortunately they don't live as long as we wish they would. All we can do is give them the best life possible with lots of love and cherish the time we have with them. I'm sure you done that in abundance and in the end you showed her mercy by taking the toughest choice you could and ended her suffering. Been there myself mate and understand the guilt you're feeling but if she was as unwell as you said then it would have been worse for her not to end it. Rather than focusing on how it ended, remember all the fun times you had and take some comfort from the fact you gave her a good home for all those years, she was a lucky girl as many many dogs don't get to experience that.

I used to be the same. Id hear of other dogs passing, and look at Saoirse and just be so thankful she was there.

But its so difficult when that time comes.

She was put to sleep at 10.15am sunday and i still havent lifted her bowls or bed.

Each day so far ive got down into her bed and broke down. I plan to lift them today and store them away as memorys, i just cant bring myself to do that yet.

Its my daughters confimation on sat and i cant bring myself to cut the grass. I still see her wee tail in the grass to her favourite spot in the garden.

Totally understandable pal, can only send my heartfelt condolences as I know the pain of losing a pet. Definitely take as much time as you need to grieve. :shamrock:
