agree. no matter what has happened in the past couple months, he had a great chance to nail down a place in the side there. but he was well below average

I'm sure that's what it was from various websites.

No at the time it was quoted as £2.3m

What happens when a Celtic player looks like he is going to flop the media say we spent more.

    Which is really odd.

See Massimo Donati for a previous example.

Hmmm, hard to know. Anyway, question still stands. Waste of money? Even for 2.3 mill, he's still made no significant contribution.

"Juarez came at a price of £2million"....and that is a quote directly from Neil Lennon.

not as straightforward as it may seem. dont we sometimes include wages due to player in the "transfer fee" paid? peter lawell has ownership rights on the origins of this trick if i'm not mistaken

I think lenny has to do a bit of explaining about why he spent so much on our midfield this season while on playing 2 out of 5 centre mids.we paid out decent fees for kayal and Juarez while paying brown and ledley in the region of 25k while we had a player in ki who Lenny knew about from the 8 games last season.I don't think we are in a position to have that many quality centre mids on our books.

Juarez -- although he has to be given a bit more time is looking a bad buy IMO.

He looks dis-interested too me. Hope he proves me wrong though.

The risk is always there though if your signing players from all corners of the globe - sometimes it just doesnt work.

Lenny did know about Ki and by all accounts didnt fancy him - he's had to play him not by choice but by necessity considering the injuries we've had.

Even though Ki hasnt done too badly he will be on the bench once people like Kayal and Brown come back IMO.

If it is true that Efrain Juarez has played at right-back for Mexico then I would like to see him given a wee run of games at right-back for us. I'm not impressed by Cha Du Ri at all, and Mark Wilson is frequently injured, so perhaps Juarez could make the right-back position his own.

It certainly looks as though Juarez' opportunities to play in central midfield are going to be limited because he is competing against Ledley, Ki, Kayal and Broony for a starting spot.

Having Juarez sitting on the bench for months on end is not doing Celtic any good and I dare say it's not doing Juarez' morale any good either. We need to find a way of resolving this situation and making Juarez feel involved again. If he can play at right-back then that might be just the solution we're looking for.

He has definitely played right-back, I think his main appearances at right-back were in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2009 and in his youngers years for previous clubs. He also played right wing a good few times.

This tells me he's naturally a right-back and the whole central midfield thing is relatively new, I think he's definitely worth a punt at right-back considering our current options.

I don't think he's going to turn out a bad buy personally.

So far you could say for £2.5m (roughly), he's barely featured in the first team and it looks as if Lennon doesn't fancy him after all. You could call that a bad buy, how would thinking that, make anyone an idiot?

Too quick to jump on players' backs.

You have to appreciate thet Scotland is a totally different culture (off the pitch) and different style (on the pitch) to what he is used to in Mexico.

He is only a young guy, but has shown he can play. Some of his early performances for us suggested he would be a star, so give the Bhoy a bit of time.
