Got to agree with that. They obviously don't think that much of you to tell you that you are not going on the stag, so why care what they think if you aren't at the wedding.

You have paid for tons of wedding facilities, they haven't invited you to the stag-do OR bought you a birthday present in years? He deserves pulled up. If you wait until afterwards he'll give you the "awww I assumed you weren't interested", and you'll have no way of proving him wrong, so nip it in the bud before he can use that.

If it turns out to be an * reason, wait until they are in Amsertdam and tell the Lamp Post they are huns. That will get them sorted.
