So guys I lost my phone on sunday after a night out..I think I left it in the taxi or something..I've obviously tried calling them and stuff but no luck
Anyway I'm on a contract with EE and I could pay £171 now and buy out my contract and get an upgrade and a new contract or I can wait it out for 7 months with my * replacement phone I had to buy from them...
Anyone got any advice or know what the best plan for me is to do?

Have you got house insurance, if so use that, probably £50 excess or if you have an RBS account you get free mobile phone insurance with it.

Actually I thought I did have it covered by the RBS insurance, but because the account is with my mums name etc then its not technically covered because its my name on the phone bills etc (???) I don't really understand because there is only one phone covered in our house and it was mine...it was fine when we set it all up a couple of years ago -
Only other option is the house insurance, I've used that to get my daughter a new phone when she lost hers.

What phone is it? iPhones and Windows Phones contain"find my phone" software so you could maybe track where it last was? Not sure about Android but probably them too.
Otherwise, sell the replacement and buy a decent phone off eBay, you'll find some great deals on used handsets honestly. -
* them, don,t contact them anymore and get a new contract/phone with a new company.
When they send you any mail state on the back....Return to sender, no longer at this address, new address unknown.
They will prob phone (if they have a landline no for you) once or twice, get whoever answers tell them you have moved to Ireland or somewhere to find work, and havent been in contact.
Had a similar sit with vodafone/Ireland couple of years ago, when I returned a couple of their letters (stating not at this address etc), they never contacted me ever again. -

I still think it's best to pay your remaining contract month by month and spend your cash wisely online on a good handset. 7 months will fly by too. -
They have a budget for bad debts, every large co does.
Remember to cancel your DD. -

Just get a normal oldskool payg phone for 20 quid man.
Unless you're a teenage girl you don't actually need pics/video/music/internet and all that * we have these days, no point spending big whack on something.
I've got a great deal, nice little Nokia smartphone for free and 7.75 a month contract with unlimited texts, 500mb, and 250 mins, with Talkmobile dunno if that deal is still out cos I got it ages ago. -

If it's a Lumia you've got AwesomeCaz, check out the apps by developer Rudy Huyn. Search "6tag", "6sec" and "6snap". They are better quality Instagram, Vine and Snapchat apps than their counterparts on iOS and Android. -
* off! I pay $265 a month for 4 fookin ifones unlimited everthing except make the tea FFS

Firstly you've agreed to take out the contract. It's not the network provider's fault that you haven't fulfilled it. It's pretty underhand to worm your way out something you agreed to.
Knowing how many people have had their credit score affected by failure to pay phone contracts, it wouldn't surprise me if this did too. It should. Not sure why "not at this address" makes any difference as it's the oldest trick in the book.
They don't even need an address to put a dent in your credit score. Not worth affecting that for a mobile phone.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 22, 2014 -

Little tip guys...download PREY for your phone it lets you add 3 devices free..i have fone, tablet and laptop on it.It basically tracks your device if it is stolen or lost,it opens your camera and takes a snapshot of the thief and logs them via your webcam..Can be done via playstore or preyproject.com
