What kind of players do we need to sign?

I think that a good quality striker is a must. I've usually backed Stokes but he just doesn't seem to do it in Europe.

 

Right now I'd kill for Scott McDonald as well. Wasnt the best footballer but he knew how to score.

 

i nearly agree with you ,if you go look at our greatest ever team as voted by the fans 10-11 are Scottish ..With Larson the only foreigner .

Sadly i dont think there are good enough Scottish players out there that would make us much better than we are now..

Add in Gary Hooper as well

 

Thing is we have tried the cheap options from abroad and it's not working, so why not go back to our roots, and even UK based players also.

And come on with the it was a long time ago, you said I would love to have the players in your list, time should not matter cause I've named better players

So let's out this to bed, our best ever players are Scottish and we have had some fantastic players who haven't been from abroad and around the UK.

But at the moment this signing raw projects from abroad or outside the UK is clearly not working, so let's chance it and get the base of our side from Scotland and the UK and build around that.

 

I don't think nationality matters much tbh, but right now there are some good scottish talents that we seem to be ignoring.

2 Strikers, 2 Centre backs, 1 Centre mid & 2 Wingers

That is after selling 8-10 players though

 

The mexico team, the chile team, the costa rica team. They're the types of players we need. Players with pace and who work hard.

 

It was working. Izzy, Wanyama, Ki, Lustig, Virgil- they've all came in and worked for us. Our problem is selling too much and buying too little. Nothing else.

 

Players that actuallly give a *. And good ones at that.

 

Players that are not looking at the epl exit the minute they play a game here.

 

Was is the key word, it's not now. And we are not buying too little we are spunking it on *.

 

Ones with a bit of fight in them because last nights effort was shocking.

 

At the moment our getting players from abroad is not working so why not try something different, that's what I'm saying, yes we need players in but we will end up * it up again.

 

Players who won't shy away in the big games. Young and ambitious players, preferably who wouldn't want to leave after one good season.

In attack, we need pace and a bit of trickery - the only player right now with both of those traits is Forrest to certain extent, and he's always injured.

We need at least one solid centre half, because VVD will be offski and Ambrose is a bombscare. Couldn't care less about the centre halves being fancy, just be good defenders i.e. Kelvin Wilson.

Cover for left back. Never want to see Mulgrew start a game for us again at left back, therefore we need some back up for Izzy. A proper left back, not a midfielder or centre half who can fill in.

 

We need Brown back, that will be as big as any new player coming into the team.

Also, is it just me, or are people completely perplexed as to why Mulgrew is played at centre mid? Lennon did it as well...he is far too slow to play there. He's a centre half (and a decent one at that)

We need a new Samaras-esque striker to partner with a smaller, goal poacher. Kind of VoH - Mcdonald partnership. I think Griffiths should play. Just get Samaras back ffs, we should never have let him go in the first place.

Stokes needs to go along with a few other deadwoods.

Other than that we just need more depth at the back and up front.

It's mainly tactics, or new tactics needing time to settle in, that has let us down imo.

 

Thought Suttons column in DR today was * spot on. What id do for him being 28 again and in our line up !!

 

He's no target man though. JVoH was. Samaras likes to dribble. Libor Kozak is close to what I'd want to see here.
