Has anyone got a definitive explanation for the term? I mean when did we start calling Rangers fans 'huns'?

Is it too long ago for anyone to remember? or can someone tell me?

Apparently Ian Archer referred to them as such in an article.

i think refering to all rangers fans as a "hun" is a bit stereotypic. not all rangers fans are protestants, but at the same time i dont think its fair to call anyone a hun, but if its just general banter its o.k. i think its o.k for rangers fans to call eachother a hun, but if a celtic fan did it, it wood be "biggoted". i mean i woodnt like it if someone called me a tim just because i support celtic.....:87:

btw i watched a film and original huns were foreign viking warriors who were evil and hunted ppl down and stretched their limbs and burned them when they found them....dont think rangers fans do that so dont understand were hun comes from

I use the term for all Rangers fans but rarely use it as an insult unless I'm in an arguement with a Rangers fan or at a Celtic vs Rangers game.

This is a bit like 'call my bluff' The real huns were a group of barbarians who gave the roman population a lot of grief before eventually disappearing into obscurity. Hmmm.....
