Hey everyone !
I was wandering what do you bhoys think on a how we are going to manage without Nguemo in midfield in january ?
I know that he will play on sunday against the rangers but then he is of to Africa for the African Nations Cup with Cameroun.
Personally , Nguemo is by far the best center midfield that with have( and perhaps the best celtic player so far this season). He has been fantastic as a defensive midefield , he doesn't tacles a lot but he is very good at stealing the ball without tackling and he has some good short passing skills. And since a couple of games he is showing signs that he wants to go forward even if i don't think that he has shot one's since the start of the season ^^.
Who will replace him ? Because i do not see someone who can be a proper defensive midfield in our squad beside him...
Take care et à bientot les amies.... ( sorry i am french...;)

Don't get me wrong I think N'Guemo is a good player, but your taking the * if you think hes the best Celtic player so far this year, that easily goes to McGeady.
I'm not too worried about missing Landry during the African Nations Cup, Celtic has been linked with a very similar ball winning midfielder Ricardo Clark and even if we don't buy Clark we still have adequate cover in Crosas, Robson, Ki and Zhi. -
is zz injured? if not he really should be playing more games for us
-
I think we'll be relying much more on Crosas this month. And hopefully see a lot more of Zheng while the oportunity's there for him, and perhaps give Ki some serious gametime to adapt to Scottish football.

likely either see ZZ slot in for a run, or Robson move insude, with the likes of McGinn or McCourt to get a run of games on the flank.
So long as we claw back 'that other team's league lead. lol -

Cant see Ki starting in an OF game. NGuemo is a loss as he has been our most consistant player for a couple of months now after a mixed start. I am worried that although he has done well recently that Crosas is now the main man. The sort of CM that wins OF games is your Hartley-Robson or Hartley -Brown ones. The nearest we have to that would be Crosas-Robson. I think if Crosas does not stand up and show he can defend in roughhouse games we are in trouble.

This is not true, but welcome to the site.
His best game in an attacking sense was the 3-0 home win against Aberdeen, he played many forward passes & showed a lot of creativity & imagination.
Celtic vs Aberdeen 3:0 Highlights - MySoccerPlace.net
On this video at 4.05 min, he wins the ball on the half way line, takes the ball past 5 defenders & shows great skill to shift the ball onto his left foot, just a pity his shot bounced out off of the post instead of into the net.
Would have been goal of the season.
His forward passing has really improved a great deal, we will miss him no doubt - I hope we sign him permanently & that he has a good campaign with Cameroon.
Bon chance, mon ami.Last edited by a moderator: Jan 2, 2010 -
Move Robson into the centre alongside Crosas, and start playing McGinn. I don't think N'Guemo will be a big loss but he has impressed me this season.

Personally would rather Robson than N'Guemo any day of the week. He is too small and liteweight in possession for that role. Crosas is similar in stature but he is composed on the ball and can pick a pass.
For me N'Guemo doesnt get stuck in far near enough. He puts in his best tackles after he has lost the ball to an opponent.
I thought he looked brilliant as well when he first came. After watching him for this half season I am becoming more and more off him. -
N'Guemo has really impressed so far this season and will definately be a loss when he's away. Hopefully someone like Robson or ZZ will step upto the plate. Think Ki will need time to settle however he could surprise us :celt_2:

buy Semir Stillic ahah easily replace N'Guemo or we could jus put brown in there as i dont think Robson will be here beyond jan
-
i know im new to this but ive seen ki (david) on youtube and he looks top class ok j-league is not like spl but if your good enough your good enough he could be our trick card so cmon the hoops hail hail

Once N'Guemo has to go then Robson, Ki and Scott Brown (will he be fit in that time?) will be the first choice competition. In fact if Brown is fit he will almost be guaranteed the role, depending on how well Ki does in training and the fleeting sub appearances we will see of him in the coming weeks.
I don't think we will see ZZ there. He has had opportunities to be played at CM a number of times this season although Mowbray has only ever played him on the flank or up front. -
I think he will be missed and outside of mcgeady he has been our best player he is the only player in the team who goes and wins the ball back and presses the game. His off the ball work is brilliant he always makes himself available to recieve the ball unlik the rest of the team who wait to see what the man on the ball will do rather than offering an option.
Not saw any of KI yet i dont know if he would be able to go in beside crosas -

Hopefully Robson will go this month, with N'Guemo also going we will have to either hope Ki can make an impact, Brown can come back in good form from injury, Zheng can step it up in CM or we buy a new CM'er.
Either way, each of these options will be partnered with Crosas & will take a bit of time for the partnership to develop & by the time that happens N'Guemo will probably be back from international duty anyway.
I wouldn't get another CM'er myself, we have plenty of cover - I would sell Robbo for anything over 500k in an instant, as he's out of contract & is pretty pish. -
