I watched it again tonight. I saw the pattern like this:

    First 15-even and scrappy
15-45-we played patient superior football that threatened to do the business
    45-sucker puch
45-50-came out playing same decent stuff as first half
50-65-Rangers have their only period of superiority
65-90-Rangers start a long period of time wasting and spoiling. We have the upper hand but they are making it hard. We panic and start to launch it.

We overall were clearly the better team.
They were very limited indeed and were very lucky to score when they did.
We played not bad. The hysteria about this match is about result and implications not really the performance. We for most of the game bar the last 25 tried to pass the ball.

It strikes me in our better periods during the game how it several times looked like we were one pass from easily opening them up. They looked vulernible. They played like a team who thought their only chance was a snatched 1-0.

Rangers are poor and with less bad fortune I am convinced we can turn them over twice at CP and take this to the wire.

if the huns are poor how bad does that make us then ?
lets be honest here weve been playing mediocre football for 4 years now and got away with it 2 titles cos huns have been really bad,2 last 16 in europe cos champions league teams are not as strong as they were mon years we need a leader on the park ,we dont have 1 in big mick

I wish we managed to squeeze the home game in first.

Jaysus mate, you really are pushing boundaries of reality. You must have watched a re-run of some other game if that's how you seen it.

First 15-even and scrappy - true.
15-45-we played patient superior football that threatened to do the business - McGregor had no save of note, so while we dominated the possession we didn't 'threaten' nearly enough.
    45-sucker punch - true.
45-50-came out playing same decent stuff as first half - I must have missed this decent stuff completely. We were pish for the entire half with the exception of Hinkel.
50-65-Rangers have their only period of superiority - see 45-50.
65-90-Rangers start a long period of time wasting and spoiling. We have the upper hand but they are making it hard. We panic and start to launch it. - see 50-65

We were pish, deal with it. No new ideas about how to break down the huns and like flat beer in the 2nd half, with the players looking like they didn't give a *.

Nah , we never kicked a ball untill the 60th minute in the second half to be honest..

I haven't watched it again and don't know how you managed it but the very attack we had before they scored should have put us one up.. Wasn't it the through ball to JVOH that he took an age to read and the chance was gone..

I though the same but the final ball wasn't good enough , or the strikers never got into the predatory position that some balls were played into..

The truth is their a team that have won 13 games in a row and are hard to score against.. They probably have the belief that scoring 1 wins them the game , while as shown this season for the first time that I can remember in any season we wen't 2 up in a domestic game but still managed to lose in 90 minutes..

The game at Ibrox was an opportunity to start righting the wrongs of the season.. We came up short unfortunately..

The first half chances Rangers - McCulloch, Ferguson and Thomson

Celtic - Vennegoor, McManus, Brown (3) + some near through balls

2nd half chances - Rangers were better because of the goal that they could defend. Simple as that.

    Thanks for that. :50:

WE DID NOT SCORE A GOAL.

As in the last four Huns games.

All this "we will hump them in the two home games" is absolute fantasy based on our managers previous efforts against the Cardigan and Co.

Keltoi, I admire your positivity, but sometimes you have to take the blinkers off mate, there was only one managers game plan worked on Saturday. The statistics still read the same no matter how many times you watch it over.

We had more possession, does that make us the best team?

I personally thought we were the better team in terms of most things - obviously except goals. The only difference being they got a lucky break, we just wern't getting any of them.

The thing is - once they got the sucker punch they could do what they've done all year against superior (technically) opposition - that is sit deep with 2 holding midfielders and wide players with high workrate and kill the game with as Leo messi put it "anti-football". I can't see them getting so lucky at Celtic park.

Watch the game tonight for an almost identical rerun, if Sporting don't score early Rangers will close the game out until they get a goal then camp in their own half, there's no great tactical nous involved it's the same performance they're producing week in week out.

Our personal inquest will continue but until we match them for determination, passion and effort all the calm controlled football we produce is meaningless, it's time to roll the sleeves up.

True. We should continue to press even if we suck an unlucky goal. Our players lack faith.
