Yes, it looks like he definitely meant it - it wan't just his leg following through as he ran.
It was very soft and as usual the wee actress made a meal of it. If he didn't react like Brown had stabbed him it would have been a yellow.

Brown was stupid though, brought it on himself.

Yep I thought the ref was rubbish anyway. Can't really argue that intent means red but you got the feeling he was waiting for us to do something. They only want the best of the best in the CL  Seen poor decisions go against us before but broony set us up for that one. Still we did alright with 10 men against the best team in the world eh

Thanks to television replays we can see it's obviously a yellow but given the position of the referee he gave him an excuse to give a red so whatever.

I agree but sadly diving is accepted, encouraged and even lauded in the modern game. Maybe some of our younger posters don't realise it didn't used to be like this, so they just consider it normal - even tactically admirable.

:smiley-laughing002: really...so if the ref had missed it the millions round the world watching wouldn't have spotted it.

Red all day long, some of you are deluding yourselves, he kicked out, yes made minimal contact but the intent is there, its a red card and broony lost control again in the CL, did it against balotelli for AC's second goal and again tonight.

What is even worse in the 2 games he misses now against Ajax, which are our two best chances of getting wins.

Equally, it could be said that those who believe it was a red are deluding themselves.

The division of opinion here is clear that it is an absolutely debatable decision.

Just because we don't agree with it doesn't mean we don't understand the rules of the game.

    He's really not.

He had a rush of blood tonight, but it so far removed from the normal Brown of the last 2 years.

Your post seems a couple of years too late.

If busquets had pushed sammy when he was away and then had a sly kick at him, we would be looking for a red. Lets be a bit realistic. Stupid mistake, minimal contact but he directed his boot at a prone player...red card.

Not a red for me, if Neymar hadn't reacted if he had been shot in the back, it would of been a yellow, which would of been the correct decision.

no, because a barca player would never of been sent off for such a thing.

Kicking a player is a grave offense. Red it is. I'd have burst Neymar's eardrums with abusive shouting, instead.

Can't believe how many people are saying yellow, maybe if you missed it at full speed sure, but the replays clearly show Brown taking a swipe at him, there's no denying it, how much contact he made is irrelevant the intent was there.

He could have just taken the foul, got a yellow and walked on, but he gave the ref a decision to make, it's nobodies fault but Brown's.

It was one of the softest reds you'll see, made worse by Neymar's playacting and Busquets pestering of the ref. But, Brown was petulant and put himself in the position to let the ref make the decision. Really silly from our captain.

The fact of the matter is the referee judged it to be a yellow up until he saw Neymar's reaction and Busquet's protests.
