That's the biggest crock of * I've seen on here from all those who have said it - the ref pulls out the yellow until he is bombarded by the Barca players and sees that wee * scumbag rolling about holding his back.

Wouldn't surprise me if broony got told beforehand to hassle neymar to throw him off his game, let's face it it's what he does best. He sticks the boot in and does this type of thing in every single game. You would get away with it in the spl but not in Europe. Have to slate neymar for playacting but it happens that often now and it will be forgot about in a week.

Definite red card unfortunately, but I wouldn't slate broony for it.

Brown has made a statement on the Celtic website apologising for his actions. He still says the red was harsh but accepts he let the team down.

CELTIC captain Scott Brown has spoken of his regret after getting sent off during last night´s 1-0 defeat to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.

With the game evenly poised, the skipper was given his marching orders just before the hour mark following an incident with Brazilian forward, Neymar.

Despite a brave effort, the Bhoys were eventually undone when Cesc Fabregas headed home the winning goal for the visitors 14 minutes from time.

Speaking exclusively to the official Celtic website, the midfielder said: "I realise that I made a mistake in getting sent off last night. It´s something that happened in the heat of the moment but I shouldn´t have acted in this way.

"I still think it was a harsh decision. However, I recognise that I made a mistake and put myself and my team-mates in a difficult position. I need to live with that and there is no-one more disappointed than me about losing the match.

"There wasn´t a huge amount of contact at all, to be honest, but I have to accept responsibility for my actions – and I do.

"The team deserved to get something out of the game after playing so brilliantly and putting in so much effort against one of the best sides in the world.

"I was also disappointed for the supporters after the incredible backing they gave us during the game. They were magnificent once again.

"It was another fantastic performance from the lads after the Milan game, and although we´ve still to pick up a point from this group, we´ve shown we can compete against some of the best sides in Europe.

"We have four games to go in this group and everyone in the squad firmly believe that we can still qualify, and we are determined to get our first points on the board against Ajax in two weeks´ time.

"For my part, I can´t wait to get back on the pitch against Motherwell at the weekend and try and help us extend our winning run in the league."

Everytime i see i dont see him kicking his back , it looks more to me like he tried to kick neymars arm the one he is leaning on

Pad its a red card, people might see it as 'soft' but by the letter of the law its a straight red card, intent was there and he made clear contact both on neymars back and then the follow through on his arm.

Whether or not it was a brush or a kick is neither here nor there brown kicked out made some contact and was therefore sent off. There is nothing more to it, neymars play acting afterwards is disgraceful but in the end it didn't matter.

Of course it mattered - Neymar doesn't roll around acting like a * oscar-winner, Brown wouldn't have been sent off. Yellow card for the foul? Absolutely.

And by the way, I would have been equally defensive had this been the other way around, or non-Celtic.

    I'm not picky.
But how can you book a player for simulation after sending off a player who has been judged to have committed an act of (and this is the rules of the games term, not mine) violent conduct? It's a contradiction in card decision. The ref believes Brown kicked out but at the same time Neymar is faking? If he were to book Neymar for play-acting then Broony wouldn't and shouldn't have been sent off because the referee would see it as Neymar faking an injury (which in all honesty he did) to get a player sent off.

That would be like a player getting a yellow card for diving in the box to win a penalty but the "offending player" getting a yellow card as well for the supposed offence.

Can't agree with the last part bit. A few years ago, yes, but I think he's matured a lot as captain in the last couple of years or so. He may still have his moments of squaring up to guys, but he's nowhere near as bad as he used to be.

Also, how many times has he himself been on the receiving end of a hard tackle? He gets fouled a lot himself (and I think most of them are to try and get a reaction from Brown so he get's into the * for it) yet I think this is the first time he's been sent off since he got sent off in a derby game a few years ago, which was a joke of a red card itself from what I remember. He was almost on the end of a boot to the face in the Dundee Utd game a few weeks ago at the end of the game but he never lashed out there. The old Broony would have lashed out though.

Occasionally confrontational, yes...liability, not so much (apart from last night :icon_mrgreen:).

Neymar is a cheating little rat, aye, but the sole blame of the incident has to go to Broony. He kicked out at Neymar giving the wee rat the opportunity to react. Brown doesn't kick out, then the rat doesn't react. Brown really should have known better.

I don't believe it influenced the decision, it was the linesman who told the ref and so he changed from a yellow to red.

Agree with this and which is why the ref only had his yellow card out...he was away to book Broony for the original foul, but once he knew of the kick out he then changed it to red.

It's more than logical to suggest that the linesman could have been influenced by Neymar's ridiculous reaction.

The fact that Brown's foot CLEARLY touches the wee *'s arm and not his back is blatant simulation.
