I believe that is the whole point! His agent has probably told him to come out with this gibberish!

He would be willing to stay for another year but he won't sign a new deal! They know Celtic, under no circumstances would let him leave for next to nothing.

So, it's our fault and not his if he is sold in the summmer

It's a win win for me. Sell him now and get a pile of dosh or keep him and do well in the league and Europe. If pushed however I would take the money.

Admittedly I'm not too familiar with the development curve of football players, not having followed it too much until relatively recently. How much more do we expect Wanyama to develop? What are the average peak years in a footballers career?

I'd love nothing better than Wanyama staying at Celtic, I'm a massive fan (I'd actually prefer keeping Wanyama even if it meant we signed nobody in order to afford his new contract); but if he doesn't sign a new contract then this latest statement means nothing and we must sell him.

Thing is, we all know he's too good for the SPL in the long term, but I think he still has things to learn here (I thought he played OK at the weekend, but you could see there are still a few things he needs to work on when in possession) and he's absolutely crucial to our hopes of reaching the CL last 16 again. It makes sense to both parties for him to sign an extension. Nevertheless (and nobody would be more thrilled than me if what I am about to say is wrong), I'm pretty sure he'll not sign a new contract and he'll not be here next season. We should focus on getting Sammy and Ledley signed up.

If he signs a new contract, I would love this. But if he doesn`t, we need to sell him this summer. Try and get as much out of him as we can

We sound like Arsenal now. Arsenal best players say they want to stay as season ticket renewal come out and are sold before season starts. eg, nasri, fabregas and van persie. Celtic seem to be doing same. If victor wanted to stay he sign new deal. He on bout 6k a week i say.

so for talks sake anyone comes in with a big money offer do we accept or say no.me personally i would sell him if we are offered 10m plus.we cant let him go into last year of contract.hes got to sign an extension if not sell, but it could be a smokescreen as if our players come out and say they want to leave then we are not in a good bargaining position.vic you want to stay then sign a new deal if not sell.

I've said already in this thread, unless he signs a new contract, then we are in no position to knock back an offer in the summer.

As been said if he really does want to stay sign an extension of a year or two at least if not then we would need to consider any decent offers that come in ;-(
I would love to see him continue developing as a player here and hopefully he will as well :50:

Lenny has just said Victor has never said he wants to leave and they are trying to do "everything they can" to get him on a new contract.

Ffs I keep forgetting this boys only 21. What a * talent. He is one player I can see lifting the champions league trophy in a few years. Leave to early though and may not get games to progress as he's doing here.

Dispite him saying he doesnt want to leave, if we get a 15mil offer I would sell. He doesnt try hard enough in the SPL to justify rejecting an offer like that.
