    He seems to completely split opinion.

    On paper he looks similar in build and stature to De Haas. Would probably rather him after 2 solid seasons in a much better league.

    I don't think he's lumbering to be fair.

    Seen a few accounts that his best attribute is his pace, meant to be quite quick.

    CELTIC are checking out Swedish centre half Viktor Eriksson in European action for Hammarby.

    Boss Brendan Rodgers has sent top scout Paul Tidsdale to watch Eriksson against Belgian side Charleroi on Thursday night.

    Eriksson has been a star for Hammarby on his return from a short spell with Minnesota in the MLS.

    It's reported by Alan Nixon on X that Celtic are monitoring the towering centre-back.

    He is a straightforward defender who would give Celtic extra competition in central defence - and he is available at a bargain £2 million.

    His former team-mate Abdelrahman Boudah told Swedish outlet Sportbladet: "He can't lose a duel, he's an animal.

    "I think he is the best centre-back in the Swedish league of all time.

    "People don't understand how crazy fast he is.

    "But let them underestimate him, and they can keep trying to hit balls behind Victor. He's absolutely brutal."

    Eriksson made his international debut for Sweden in a friendly against Finland last year.

    He's played 17 times for Hammarby in the Allsvenskan this season and helped them gain ten clean-sheets, scoring one goal.

    Hammarby are second in the table four points behind leaders Mjallby.

    Celtic are looking to strengthen the centre-back position, with Manchester City defender Jahmai Simpson-Pusey reportedly arriving in Glasgow on Friday to undergo a medical ahead of a season-long loan.

    They've also sold Swedish defender Gustaf Lagerbielke to Benfica, while other centre-back Maik Nawrocki has joined Hannover on loan until the end of the season.

    Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty and Liam Scales are Rodgers' current options, with Stephen Welsh and Dane Murray on the fringes but he wants more competition.

    Celtic recently signed winger Benjamin Nygren and have a strong tradition with Swedish players.
