That's such a logical fallacy, like saying the Scottish league is better than the Championship because Pukki and Daryl Murphy banged them in down there. Belgian league is better than our league imo.

After David Okereke (8 million euros) and Simon Mignolet (7 million euros), Club Brugge will again take a big hit on the transfer market. The Belgian vice champion is said to pay 10 million euros for his new number 6.

Club Brugge is said to have reached an agreement with Tottenham on a transfer from Victor Wanyama . It would be about an amount of ten million euros plus bonuses. If the deal succeeds, the Kenyan becomes the most expensive incoming transfer ever in Belgium.

But why is Club Brugge ready to break his piggy bank for the 28-year-old midfielder? The Belgian vice-champion is ready for the new season and will have to play at different levels. Every position has been doubled, except for one. Since the departure of Nakamba, Club Brugge has been looking for a pure number 6. Wanyama can stand its ground in the Belgian competition and in the European top competitions. They will certainly be able to use it.

Amrabat seems to be leaving and Rits is physically short for this position, even though he is doing well. The names of Gianelli Imbula (Stoke City) and Daniel Amartey (Leicester City) were mentioned, but by focusing on Wanyama , the club seems to want to reward Clement for a good start to the season and to give him the means to realize his ambitions.

It should also not be forgotten that the coach of Blauw-Zwart knows and appreciates the defensive midfielder he took on as a teammate in Beerschot. After two years with the rats, the Kenyan moved to Celtic (2011-2013) before joining Southampton (2013-2016). He soon won the Saints' Cup and was even considered one of the best in his position. This allowed him to secure a transfer to Tottenham in 2016 . He was the undisputed starter for the Spurs, but then lost his place in Pochettino's team due to two consecutive injuries.

Faced with fierce competition from, among others, Tanguy Ndombele, Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks and Eric Dier, Wanyama was in the first match against Aston Villa and even in the stands against Manchester City.

It remains to be seen whether the player wants to become the new guard of Club Brugge.

We're no spending 9 million on a 28 year old so that'll be that.

Paid 7 mil for an unproven jullian, but won't spend 8 mil on a proven solid possible replacement for brown. :39:

10 million euros is more than we paid for Edouard and he’s 2 years older than Jullien.

That’s what the club would be looking at unfortunately.

Club brugge have CL football that's why he's went you telling me he's went their to play against zulte waregem..... No need for the huff and pessimistic view he will get 2 games against anderlecht and games against gent and genk..... If he came here he would have got 4 games against the huns Aberdeen hearts and hibs that can be quite decent affairs...... The plastic pitches and Hamiltons of the world let our league down no doubt fact is he's went their because brugge were willing to part with 11 million surprised someone else didn't Come in for him

Where did I say Scotland is better? Merely pointing out that it can't be that a good a standard when Watt averaged a goal every 3 games over there compared to over here where he is one in 7. I'm taking it you watch the Pro League on a weekly basis? I sure as * don't, only thing I can go off is player stats. Also yeh, I would say the english championship is highly overrated.

Quality in Belgium is way higher though at the moment, 2 team in cham lg(if Club Brugge can cary after 1-0away win against LASK) and probably 3 in the group stages of the Euro lg. There was a play off system implemented 5yrs ago, where the top 6 teams play eachother 4 times. Which enhanced the attrsctivity and quality for those teams. Obviously there is still enough dross. But in Play off one, mostly Antwerp, Anderlecht, Club Brugge, Gent, Genk and Standard will play. All infront of full houses, all buy players for decent money too.

The level has gone up the last 5yrs since Watt had his good half season with Lierse. Last year he couldnt even hack it at Leuven in second division. Even when i remember at Standard he was awfull and didnt score at all.

Thanks for the info, you think that sort of play-off system would benefit our league? Only thing I could see happening is us playing the huns and the sheep like 8 times a year which is over kill imo, we need at least 16 teams in our league.

Its difficult, cause as u say in the SPL there are already 4 games. In Belgium there are 5/6 clubs on a similar level. Here its us, then the huns and then far nothing. Its not as levela playing field.

As well, we have the top6 clubs playing eachother infront of sell out crowds. But play off two, which is in two groups of the other teams, is often infront of a few thousand fans. Those teams often lose 3/4 of their spectators in play off 2.

It is such a complicated system. Cause numbwr 2 and 3 from second division get to play in play off 2 as well. The bottom team from. Division 1 relegates directly already in march and therefore has 5/6months without income. Same for the champion of 2nd division(which is a competition of 8 teams that play eachother 4 times, in 2 periods, the winner of each period plays in the play off final. It happened once that the team with most points didnt win a period therefore was nothing with number one spot) which is decided at end of march. So they wont play any competitive games till the new season.

I hope it makes a little sense, mad system to explain lol

Brugge might be able to offer the asking price, but i think his waged are way to high for any Belgian team.
