Entirely predictable some of the responses in this thread.

    "Yawn"

    "Offended"

    "Brigade"

You would think people would take 5 minutes to read through it before jumping in feet first.

All they see is certain posters posting and jump to conclusions.

Why anyone would feel the need to post anything other than concern that images like this are deemed acceptable is beyond me.

I'm all for a poppy coin.

A recruiting poster as currency just doesnt make much sense to be honest.

Only on here can a thread about a 2 pound coin turn into a thread about sexual practices I've never heard of, and giving spellcheck his weekly kick in :56:

Kitchener was a *, but shouldn't really generate this level of response

I think murdering woman and children and slaughtering thousands merits a slightly harsher description than '*'

Exactly i think we should set up a postage address, say my address, and anytime someone gets one of these "unwanted" two pound coins just send em north. They will be put to good use!

Horrible coin representing a war where the Brits threw the Irish onto the front line to get slaughtered for a start.
The most pointless war of them all, solely for imperialism and power.

Time for someone to invade England if you ask me, give them a taste of their own medicine.
Another Hitler or Wallace would do nicely. :smiley-laughing002:

I disagree, for me It's not representing the war, it's remembering the war. Of course this was just one propaganda poster albeit the most famous one which were used to inspire men to sign up but it's still an important piece of history which helps to show the naivety of Europe in 1914, it shows to me that nobody at the time could have possibly predicted that it would become a trench war in which a whole generation of youth would die from the working classes to the privileged.
It's a valuable note from a dark point in history and one in which we should never forget.

There is plenty of images on the futility of war that could have been used, but it doesn't fit into contemporary narrative and the move towards jingoism and glorification of illegal wars that we see today.
