    England has many things of which she can be proud and would be worthy of commemorating, The NHS, Thomas Paine, winning the Football World Cup but the mint have decided to go with Kitchener instead.

    Kitchener was responsible for thousands of deaths in Africa. Can you imagine the reaction of the British if the Germans decided it would be a good idea to put the perpetrators of the Le Paradis Massacre on a 2 Euro coin?

    It doesn’t bear thinking about.

    It's really not if you know anything about Kitchener, of which there is loads of info in this thread.

    It actually surprises me that people can read the thread and then not feel somewhat uneasy at him being on the coin.
